Chiefs Tried Out Several Players Before Signing Shaun Draughn
Aaron Wilson of Scout.com reports the Kansas City Chiefs tried out four players this week including RB Shaun Draughn, DE Ryan Baker, RB Stafon Johnson and RB William Powell.
The Chiefs ended up signing Draughn but here's a little more on the guys they didn't sign.
Baker is a 6'5", 295 pound defensive end who entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins after spending his collegiate career with Purdue. He has been with the Dolphins (and on the practice squad) for the last three seasons. The Dolphins released him last week when they claimed RB Steve Slaton off waivers.
Johnson is a 5'11", 215 pound running back who played at USC. He entered the league last year as an undrafted free agent and signed with the Tennessee Titans, before eventually landing on IR. He's well known because of an incident at USC when a barbell fell on him and he required multiple surgeries to fix a crushed vocal chord and adam's apple.
Powell is a former Kansas State running back who stands 5'9" and weighs 205 pounds. He went undrafted his year and spent time with the Arizona Cardinals.

I wondered
if they gave Powell a look when I heard about the Draughn signing. I really liked William at K-State. He was a great switch up from Daniel Thomas and had pretty good return ability. He just got over shadowed a bit by Thomas. For his sake, I hope he can stick somewhere, he’s a good kid.

never heard of this guy
but PLEASE tell me his name is pronounced “dragon.” If so he should start right away.
I think
It’s pronounced “drone”

I figured "drown"
Either way, he’s not likely to make it to the shore of a Chiefs football game.
Chiefs 22 - Vikings 17: Suck on that, Luck suckers!
Not "drawn"?

would have liked the kid from SC
Standing on the corner in a white Godfather hat. He drives a long black gangster Cadillac. He can steal a broads mind, man, in three or four minutes. It’s not how long you talk, brother, it’s what you put in it.

Would like to have
JC back cause our run game looks terrible… We have no fire power from the back field. It’s time to go shotgun as our main offensive set. We have 3 good Wr’s and a quick little rabbit. the one thing we have going for us is that we have a huge height advantage at Wr when Baldwin comes back.
I'm a little surprised Stafon Johnson is available
He was pretty good at USC before he got hurt and the past 2 preseasons he has looked pretty good.
Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.
I'll say it again, take a look at Noel Devine and Dereck Locke.
Just tell it to call you Billie!

I really want to see Noel Devine do something somewhere.
I’m afraid he’s just too small though.

I DON'T
He’s bigger than McCluster, he doesn’t have to be an every down back. He just has to replace Charles speed which he has alot of.
Just tell it to call you Billie!

Shaun Draughn vs. Amara Kamara in a cool rhyming name duel
we don’t have Amara anymore though, right?
