There'd be no reason to

They got two awful review calls in their favor that were tide-turners early.

The PI was, as the announces said, an either way sort of thing. Flip of a coin there at worst. The blown fumble call that everyone on the planet knew wasn’t a fumble but they gave to SD anyway, for instance, probably leaves SD no room to complain.

And I wasn't following the game threads, but did anyone see anything to indicate that that Bowe catch that Haley decided not to challenge wasn't actually a catch?

Hard to say since I haven’t gone back and watched it again since it happened yet. But they may have had access to a better replay angle than the TV broadcast showed.

he didn't catch it

it would have been ruled incomplete because if you continue the play you will see that he loses the ball and it ends up around his shins. He didn’t control it the ball to the ground.

by photo700 on Oct 31, 2011 11:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Actually

it wasn’t the position of his Bowe’s feet or body. Bowe trapped the ball to the ground as he was coming down, thus making it an incomplet pass. One of the few calls the refs got right.

gimme some more of that Kool-Aid

by bamachiefs on Oct 31, 2011 11:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Incomplete

As he went to the ground, the ball came out and ended up behind his leg on the ground. That’s why the backjudge was the one to come over and make the call. He was the one who could see the ball on the ground.

A classic, but maybe that way because it was ugly

I mean, there was a stretch there where the Dolts almost caught up on FG alone. I was really afraid we had stalled. But they got a damn lucky break fromy Phyllis and played their hearts out in OT. Hell of a cap, but there were some ugly spots. How about that TD drive for San Diego where Phil walked to line twice, took a spot of tea, and then made first down passes b/c our secondary had stopped playing as if someone had blown a whistle. Still, so glad we won. Can’t stress that enough. I won my Red Bull to get me awake for contracts class tomorrow morning after all!

Rivers and their RB owning us down the field, we blow every third and long we get, game looks over

Rivers fumbles the snap and Studie recovers, we get the ball moving but Cassel throws a pick, and we go to OT. Chargers get stopped quick in OT, Cassel moves the ball well (McCluster looked great) and we set up an easy chip shot from about the 15. Chiefs win, BOOM BABY!

The deep sideline pass that set up the TD?

It wasn’t even a catch. He trapped the ball at the end. The replay clearly showed the ball sliding on the grass under him.

I was surprised the Chiefs didn’t try to challenge it. Not that the referees wouldn’t have made another horrendous decision on it, of course.

Honestly, though, as much as I love the guy (especially tonight), Cassel still isn’t an elite enough quarterback to safely play anyone but Dwayne Bowe.

How deep is your league, by chance? Do you have any other options besides those two?

Man, what an awesome loss by the Chargers!

I would say what an awesome win by the Chiefs, but by watching all the post game commentary, as well as some during the game by Gruden, it seems to be that I am mistaken and that the Chiefs did nothing right and had no shot and only did anything remotely positive because of mistakes by San Diego. It was obviously mistakes by San Diego in the red zone to force them into field goals instread of TDs, and not at all the Chiefs defense. It was most definately not the defense that caused all the turnovers, but stupid mistakes by the Chargers. In fact I think after that fantastic loss by the Chargers they should be even more favored to win the AFC West than before. But anyway Go Chiefs!!!

Just because you disagree with someone/something, or they disagree with you, doesn't mean that person/act is ignorant. Please don't be ignorant of how to properly use the word ignorant!

LMAO!!!!!!!!

Yeah… The Chiefs were setting off fireworks celebrating their loss, and it was distracting…. And I couldn’t concentrate on getting the ball.

Isn't this way better than sucking for Luck?

I mean really, aren’t you glad the team didn’t phone it in after week three?

No Contest… never give up on your team.

Absolutely.

I’m starting to think there’s a slight chance I might be able to freeze my nuts off during a January playoff game again.

by Black and Gold on Nov 1, 2011 12:04 AM CDT up reply actions

The truth is, even if Luck is the next Manning and the smart move really would have been to tank the season (from a long term perspective), I just can't bring myself to ever root against the Chiefs.

I’d still love to somehow get Luck, though.

Who thought this team had a chance last season?

Admittedly, it’s a much longer shot this time around, but with a little luck and a few more chokejobs from Rivers, it can happen.

Unfortunately for us...

They kind of did just lose. But it made for the funniest shit I’ve ever seen in the NFL.

by Tomahawk29 on Nov 1, 2011 12:11 AM CDT up reply actions

I disagree

The Chiefs made a lot of great plays throughout the game. I think it would be just as easy to say the Chiefs should have put the game away sooner than it is to say the Chiefs didn’t so much win as the Chargers lose. Aside from that one fumble play there is no way I will say that the Chiefs didn’t earn their victory. The Chargers may have made some mistakes, but many were forced by the Chiefs and non self-inflicted.

Just because you disagree with someone/something, or they disagree with you, doesn't mean that person/act is ignorant. Please don't be ignorant of how to properly use the word ignorant!

by ChiefsFan4Life634 on Nov 1, 2011 12:20 AM CDT up reply actions

Ummm...

Even if the Chargers had won, it came down to the wire. They were still 20-20 with a minute left on the clock. That means it was close the ENTIRE game. No offense but I can’t stand it when people say stuff like this. The better team wins. That’s why they WON. Bottom line. You are what your record says you are. The Chiefs are better than the San DIego Chargers right now. If San Diego was so much better then that last drive wouldn’t have mattered. If the Chargers were so much better then they wouldn’t have had to kick field goals to catch up. But they did. They are not any better. “But insert name wasn’t playing!” The Chiefs are 4-0 without almost all of their playmakers. Get off the Chargers’ dicks. (not you, toma, just tired of hearing this argument is all)

Johnny Baldwin is lookn like the real deal!!!

Enjoy these last 2 wins boys,,,I’m thinking Cassel can go deep now that we have a vertical receiver…I couldn’t be happier with Breaston’s play either, and D Bowe is a top 5 receiver IMO….4 wins straight without our 2 best( pro bowl) players…Chiefs Will !!!!

The Chargers to move up in the Power Rankings this week and Philip Rivers to be in the MVP conversation. Before the fumble they must have given him 52 different excuses for why they weren’t winning.
