Remember back to pre-draft times when we all had several absolute opinions on who to draft, who to trade and who to resign??? Well to say that I was against big Phil Taylor from Baylor was an understatement, and I was one voice against the many. However, this is not about the big boy we traded the rights to the Browns for JBal and Houston. This is simply about one of the guys I wanted to see traded while he had great value, instead of paying a big money, long term deal. So far I do not think he has earned it. Like several contracts the Chiefs are on the hook for, just my opinion, as the #1 picks who haven't earned the big dollars.
Who am I talking about? Our stud pass rusher is who. Tamba Hali isn't earning the big money he signed for as of yet. This was a big concern of mine, a career year followed by an this average year as seen so far. We all had high hopes for him, coupled with Houston, to terrorize the opposing QB's and it just hasn't happened. I will say that he seems to have become a better LB, a good thing, but what has happened to the pass rush? With a true NT in Gregg, and TJax becoming all he can be, you would think Hali would have better numbers already.
I'm not sure why, anybody got any ideas? This game will be a nationally televised game, a time to showcase what he can do and I hope he does. But when I think back to a premier pass rush player known as DT, it seemed to me he coasted after signing a big contract and he only brought the intense effort in big games. Don't get me wrong DT was a really good player here, but wasn't any where as good as Bobby Bell. So far Tamba has brought much effort with his well known motor, one really good sack total year and not much else. He will never be remembered in the same breath as DT, but man he sure has a big bank account which I am envious of.
With the Bolts O-line in some disarray, it would be perfect timing to have a huge day sacking the QB from Dago. As a matter of fact, I want to see this happen badly with or without Tamba. Anyway I thought this was a topic that others might feel strongly about and wanted to see where the consensus of opinion was. GO Chief's!!!!
