Former Chief Heads To Atlanta
The Atlanta Falcons had some bad news this week when it was announced that Pro Bowl FB Ovie Mughelli was going to be placed on injured reserve, ending his season. The Falcons brought in a number of fullbacks to work out today and signed one.
Can you guess which former Kansas City Chiefs fullback is on the market?
If you guessed Mike Cox, you are correct. The Falcons announced the signing of the former Chief today.
Cox was with the Chiefs for three seasons -- 2008-10. He was released at the final cutdown day in early September after the team had acquired FB Le'Ron McClain. The Chiefs also worked him out in mid-September this year, a few days after Jamaal Charles was lost for the season.
It's a homecoming of sorts for him as he returns to the state where he went to college.
Cox can't say he's the most famous Chief to go from KC to Atlanta. That's reserved for a certain tight end.

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Svitek
really killed Matt Ryan’s ankle.
Mike Cox could be a good fit blocking for Turner. Good to see him land on his feet. I really thought he was gonna end up in Buffalo.
meh...

I always kind of thought Dimitroff liked Cox.
I think Matt Ryan will look right at home with Mike Cox behind him.
Wait until Falcons fans see Mike Cox. Big, thick, and more than willing to pound it up the middle.

And if you're comfortable letting him handle some balls, he can really hit that hole.

true true...
Dimitroff had his younger brother also a FB, and also a GT alma matter, in training camp this year…

Passed along from Pioli...
He is big, rigid, and likes to pound it up the gut. Cox blocking is good and he can force it in between the holes. Beware, he can become limp at times. If you play with him enough, he can be pretty hard. All in all, I would say Cox is appealing if you are into that sort of thing…

!["On a warm, sun-filled summer afternoon, Barth and Cox shared the path they each took in their NFL journey with those in attendance [at the HSPD program]. Representing three school districts, students from East, Hickman Mills, Raytown, Raytown South and Ruskin high schools then asked questions of these NFL gladiators. Following the Q&A session, the HSPD [High School Player Development] participants concluded this week-long program with a spirited 7-on-7 competition."
