It's Kyle Boller...No, It's Carson Palmer...No, It's Actually Kyle Boller
First it was Kyle Boller and then it was Carson Palmer and now we're back to Kyle Boller. The Oakland Raiders quarterback situation has been fluid, to say the least, but it appears we're back to Boller starting for the Raiders against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
ESPN reported earlier today that Palmer was now unlikely to start against the Chiefs and Raiders coach Hue Jackson indicated in a Bay Area radio interview that he could use multiple quarterbacks in the game (Palmer, Boller and Terrelle Pryor have taken at least some first team snaps).
Steve Wyche of NFL.com reports via a league source and multiple Raiders players that Boller will be starting for the Raiders this weekend. Jackson says he knows who the quarterback will be but isn't identifying who it is.
For now, it's Boller.
Until it's Palmer again.
And then back to Boller.
I can tell you this with 100 99 percent certainty: Oakland will indeed have a quarterback on the field this Sunday.

Hmm...
Jackson: “We’re starting Palmer and that’s that.”
Haley: “We’re not going to tell you if Baldwin is going to play or not, as that would give you a game planning advantage.”
Jackson:“Hey, that’s a good idea! Yo, media, I’ve changed my mind. I might be starting Boller now.”

if Haley plays games with announcing who starters are he's a "genius" (to Chiefs fans)
… it the coach of another does it (and not saying that’s what’s happening) he’s an “idiot” (according to Chiefs fans)
if our coach keeps other teams in the dark it’s a “tactical advantage” because it confuses the enemy (according to Chiefs fans) but if another team does the same thing it must obviously be a stupid thing to do because it confuses their own team (according to Chiefs fans)
funny how that works, huh

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
I can't speak for others.
But I didn’t understand why Jackson would say so early. Why make it easier for us when he doesn’t have to?
The only difference that could explain it is that, while Baldwin can still practice with the first team and not play in the game, it’s to the Raider’s advantage to give either Boller or Palmer 100% of the first team reps to get them used to it. So we can have Baldwin practice with the first team and still have reasonable doubt, but they couldn’t have their QB take all the first team reps without tipping their hand. So they would have to choose between tipping their hand or not giving their QB enough practice reps.

It depends on if Chiefs coaches say something like:
“We’re happy to have Steve Breaston. He’s a real WR.”
Indeed.
Or, “if he’s breathing, he’s starting”. Kind of funny, huh

Speaking of which, Boller's confidence must be sky high right now...

I love how easy it was to hear the sarcasm in this without seeing it in sarcasm font. :-)

I... um... need to make a confession.
I don’t know how to use the sarcasm font. But honestly, even if I did I probably wouldn’t use it.
Having to explain that it’s a joke would just kill it. I’d rather people tried to guess if I was being serious or not.
actually I think you have that backwards
at least earlier in the season, there was a ton of Haley is an idiot comments no matter what he did and many thought Jackson is a genius

this is the type of stuff I just dont get. do you hate positive posters that much?
who is saying its a genius move?
its a move all coaches make for the most part, you do your best to force the other team to think about defending all options. Where is anyone labeling haley a genius for this

what I thought only Aiken made posts to irratate people?
I love how Aiken gets hundreds of comments about how he eggs people on but then the same people do just that and its okay because theyre “realists”

I guess SDChief missed Aiken's comment(s) in an earlier thread where he was saying much of what I did
… the difference is that mine is meant to be satire/parody (enlightenment?)
basically his comment was that since the Raiders have seemingly changed their minds on their starting QB that well, gosh, if we’re confused then imagine how confused their entire team must be, not knowing who to prepare for
in my mind that’s just silly … the WRs run the same routes and catch the same balls, the OLine blocks, the RBs run … I can’t see much changing outside of the QB ability to maybe throw deep or something, but basically the game is the same
and for the record, I’ve never called Jackson a “genius” nore Haley an “idiot” for waiting til the last minute to announce starters … that’s just the way he is, I have no issue with it whatsoever
my “point” is that we’re a homeriffic bunch and we give our guys credit for something but blast others for doing the same thing

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
see at the end of the day, this is WHY I can go at ups about his opinions
…..he doesnt take it personally, and actually attempts to see where you are coming from
yes. I missed the other convo and jumped in defense mode. nailed it
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
Team Colquitt
agree. I just dont think that even a majority praise haley for what he does
in fact, I go to website to website and all I see are “fire haley” posts….
if anything, im defending a coach who doesnt deserve a lot of the BS he gets.
and IMO, he gets more FALSE bs, than he does true Bs
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
Team Colquitt
once again, I failed to use the word "realists" so....I fail to understand its placement here
obviously I missed another convo…
I in NO WAY, am EGGING someone on there…..you know what im doing? Im saying that its not fair to group the positive people together. We cant praise anything haley does because evidently thats ALL we do….it pisses me off, because its just not true.. in this case, haley didnt do anything out of the ordinary that other coaches dont do.
and yes, I missed aiken’s comments, so I cant really comment in that regard.
in no way do I try to “egg people on” In fact, what I did was simply try and defend those who stay positive.
so you, slack, might want to consider what you wrote, and apply it to yourself
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
Team Colquitt
To be fair
I’m not sure Hue ever said Palmer was going to start this week. From what I recall, Hue has been coy since the deal went through. I do know Saunders said Palmer would start, and I wonder if that caused any turmoil with Hue.
I was wondering if that's where Adam got his info to begin with.

was his super secret informer. LOL
Even if Boller starts....
Raiders still won’t have a QB on the field. And Palmer looks almost sickly out of shape. I’m just hopin Palmer doesn’t come out swingin and hang 500/4 on us.

Darn...
was really hoping Hali would be the only Boller. I hope Kyle won’t mind being a pin..

Why don't they just start Pryor?
He has almost as much experience this season as both of their other options…
I was once fired from a job two days after I waited on Matt Cassel and his wife Lauren Killian. Totally my AP moment to remember. Unfortunately also one of my stupidest moments.
So what this really means is
They would have no problem with putting in palmer if he knew even 15 % of the playbook and let him wing the rest, but in scrimmage his timing with receivers and such must have really stunk so they have no choice except going with the guy they were trying to avoid.

Man Kyle Boller SUCKED.
I can’t even believe he’s still playing.
But now all I can think of a big arm and the Raiders’ fast receivers.
Just went back yesterday and watched Jacoby Ford’s week 9 highlights against us from last season.. I mean he really tore us a new one. Had at least a step on Flowers all day long.

doesnt matter who starts
We have to stop Mcfadden. that was the game plan b4 cambell got injured and after.
Yes exactly!
I don’t think it makes a difference who is behind center for them. Stopping McF is the key

Mcfadden might get 28 touches sunday. normal game teams have 70-75 snaps. Also did i hear right our PR man is leading the league in returns?
stop the run.
period.

I don't really care.
We have one job to do. Stop McFaggen. Neither of the QB’s should be effective.

It seems as if the Raiders cannot decide who they want the quarterback to be. Fans are only going to take so much before getting upset, but, it’s good that at least they will have one; would be terrible without.
