After Carson Palmer Trade, Raiders Get A Boost From Vegas
The Oakland Raiders opened up the week as 3.5 point favorites over the Kansas City Chiefs and our odds expert, Steve, talked all about the line. Those odds came at a time when we thought Kyle Boller would be leading the bad guys on Sunday after Jason Campbell broke his collarbone.
A day after that line came out, the Raiders made a big-time moving trading for Carson Palmer. He's expected to be on the field starting for the Raiders this weekend which has shifted the line.
After the Palmer trade, the Raiders have received a boost from Vegas as the line at many sports books now shifts to 4.5 points.
So a Carson Palmer that hasn't played in a game in 10 months and has one practice under his belt is good for one more point in Vegas than a Boller-led team.
Steve will be back on Sunday morning to take one last look at the line before the game kicks off.

Seeing Palmer wearing #3 kinda reminds me of when Jeff George played for the Raiders
Hopefully he plays just as bad.
Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.
Palmer is an upgrade right now, regardless of how the Raiders do down the road.

Or more proof of what every person that is not stuck in Chiefs fandom think of the last two wins.
4.5 point dogs at home in a division game against a QB that hasn’t played in 8 months means people don’t buy the season has turned around.

The game is in Oakland I realized, so that makes it a little less embarrassing.

Boller has to feel really good about himself right about now.
Nothing like getting replaced by a guy that’s been there less then 24 hours.

But look at the lift that gave to Painter.

Not just a guy who's been there such a short time, but a guy who hasn't been practicing with any team in almost a year

Starter already? The whole trade looks like a desperation move by the Raiders
Hope the guy doesn’t get hurt! I mean he hasen’t got into football shape and you throw him into the fire, because he’s clearly the better QB on roster?
Palmer does give the Raiders a 4-5 year window to be a real good team in the future, but to play him this quickly could prove to be ill advise.
Play Boller, and if they need a spark pull Palmer from the bench.

I hope H"Ali" eats him
or “Houston” Palmer has a problem
Nothing better than to end the Raiders dream in its infancy

It's possible he's been keeping in decent football shape on his own, possibly with a private trainer
He certainly wasn’t at the point of true retirement. I think the guy might be okay in that department. The real question is how well he could possibly know the playbook. He does have history with Hue Jackson, who was his OC at USC for his first two seasons. I guess a little familiarity is better than none at all, even if Norm Chow’s offense with Palmer just plain dwarfed Jackson’s offense’s production.

He kept in shape with a personal trainer...
who is on the Raiders’ payroll.
Also he has been throwing routes with T.J. Houshmanzadeh and T.O., reports are saying.

That's a big part of it
Palmer could be completely in shape and have a full grasp of the playbook, but timing is going to mean the difference between hitting the receiver in stride and throwing the pass behind the receiver, resulting in the dreaded interception.
