Question: Do I understand that Palmer has been sitting out all year? If he is in fact "ready" as they say he might be, just how well could he play given that he hasnt thrown to the Raiders receivers before today and probably hasnt been throwing a whole lot period. (injury) I can see maybe next week, but just three days prep?

I mean I know he is a good QB but,
with the timing issues and such, it seems he would be more of a liability than an asset this week.
Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!
I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.
I disagree.
I think he was a great QB, and now he is a good QB.

Whoa a great QB?
Carson Palmer never played like Tom Brady. Above average, but no greatness.
I agree
I think going into the playoff game where he got injured the first time, he was considered one of the elite 3 maybe 4 in the league. We could all be eating some stinky ol humble pie after this weekend…the guy CAN read defenses and if we drop coverage at all, expect to get burned. I hope not, but I will give credit where credit is due.
Raiders are full throttle right now
“QB isn’t in game shape? Don’t care! We must win now! Waterboy hasn’t filled the water cups? Don’t care! Must drink cup and win now!”
They’re approaching this season with great urgency. It’s pretty unsettling to see them gamble so much this season when they’re not going to win the Superbowl…Hue Jackson is crazy…
no picks until the third round is going to hurt
they keep saying that they will get a pick for Zach Miller but they won’t. They replaced him with a free agent in Kevin Boss. Ultimately I think that they end up getting a third for Nnamdi and a sixth for Gallery. A third and two sixths in a VERY strong draft.. The Raiders do it to themselves
BOOM!
yeah forreals
It really is Superbowl or bust for them. The fans have seen a miserable team for so long…one 8-8 season and a 4-2 start and all of a sudden they believe it’s time for the Superbowl. It’s madness…
One thing that I think is lost in all this is our own team.
The way out team has been built. Of all the spots on the defense, the two most secure are CB and Lewis (safety). Our DBs are the core of our D and I know the stats don’t show it, but keep in mind that the Berry injury has forced us to change our defensive alignments. We have all but scrapped the cover 3 in favor of the cover 2. AND we’ve done all this on the fly. As for the rest of our D, it has been coming along well in recent years and I love what Gregg has enabled TJax, Belcher and DJ to do.
This game is going to be the most telling of the year. By far, there has not been (and IMHO) nor will there be a more telling and important game for us this year. After this game we will know if we are ready to trust Cassel to take the next step and take the offense with him. We will know if the combo running attack of Battle and McClain can be legit. We will know what type of wideout Baldwin is; is he a field stretcher, is he a possesion receiver, and what is his true functional speed? Is our O-line trully up to the challange? They’ve looked pretty good so far, but the raiders’ front line will be the first true test of our line.
Defensively: Can we truly stop the run? No better test than this one. Can anyone other than Tamba PLEASE put pressure on the QB?? Houston has been moved into sub-packages in a supposed attempt to get him out there on passing downs and situation. Can we finally have the last safety position solidified? These receivers will test them, that’s for sure.
I can’t wait for this game! If we win, then we would have completed the major changes our team has had to make due to the injuries and we will win the division. NO QUESTION!
If we lose.. well… How about that RG3 guy. He’s really something, ain’t he??
I thought this would be a telling game for the Chiefs
But it’s hard to still think so when we’re playing against a QB who joined his team today for the first time. Had it been Campbell, I’d say, “Yes, it will be telling.” Now I think I have to wait another week to feel like I know anything about our team.
Huzzah! Fantasy football has returned, allowing me to slap my opponents (family members) across the face with my favorite pair of white satin gloves. En garde, monkeys!
It will be a telling game if they lose.

But whichever one plays, I don’t think we learn much about the Chiefs. Unless, like saskwatch said, we lose. Then it tells us a lot.

Only advantage that Boller has over Palmer is that he’s been in the system. It’s not like he’s up practicing with the first team. Any timing issues that Palmer has, Boller will have the same. The difference is that Palmer’s proven to have good instincts and has a successful history.
"Hater" is a term used by weak-minded people in the face of legitimate criticism.
Really?
46-51-0=success? Where do you stand on Matt Cassel again?
"You gonna pull them pistols...or whistle Dixie?"
Meaning, he HAS been successful, where Boller has never.
Holster them claws, buddy.

Todd Bauman did it...
I imagine they are going to go with a limited playbook and try and rely on the running game. Palmer will definitely take shots down the field.
I think for a guy like that its like riding a bike... He's been playing this position his whole life. Aint like he's forgotten how to throw a football and read a defense. And at one point he was really good at it.
Just gotta knock the rust off. I’m sure he’ll come out nervous and sluggish, but will most likely get better as the game wears on, assuming we stay consistent and not get pressure on the QB. There’s going to be a point in this game where Hue Jackson will look like a goddamn genius, but it won’t last. He’ll make some throws, get some first downs… Similar to the Todd Bouman sitiation. Hell, ANY QB that has a clean pocket and ample amount of time to throw is going to look better than he should. Most recently, see Curtis Painter.
So, it comes down to pressure again, and Crennel’s failure to generate much of it. But do you blitz early and allow completions on those bubble screens and swing passes? Or do you lay off, have more than enough guys in coverage, and save the blitz for when the OC/Palmer gets a bit more comfortable and dials up the 5 and 7 step drops…
