Chiefs Rest More Players In Last Bye Week Practice

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs conducted their final practice of the bye week on Wednesday before taking four consecutive days off. Chiefs coach Todd Haley probably would have given some time off anyway but the new CBA rules dictate that players get four consecutive days off, including Saturday.

The Chiefs are giving a few veterans rest during the bye. On Tuesday, there were seven players not practicing, according to Josh Looney, the KC Star and the folks that were there. Those players were: RB Jackie Battle, FB  Le'Ron McClain, TE Leonard Pope, WR Steve Breaston, WR Keary Colbert, G Ryan Lilja and C Casey Wiegmann.

On Wednesday, those players didn't practice again. The KC Star reports several others sat out on Wednesday: LB Demorrio Williams, DT Kelly Gregg, S Jon McGraw and RB Thomas Jones.

So that's 11 guys that missed Wednesday's practice. Two of them, Battle and McClain, could be injury-related, but their injuries are supposedly nothing major

Here's the KC Star's story on Wednesday's practice, which includes a shouting match.
