Wrapping Up Chiefs' Injuries In Colts Game
Injuries have been a topic of conversation for the Kansas City Chiefs this year after they lost Tony Moeaki, Eric Berry and Jamaal Charles in consecutive weeks. But in the last three weeks they've been relatively healthy, with only three players -- all listed as probable -- on the injury report heading into last week.
There were two notable injuries in Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts and we're not sure if either one is serious.
Le'Ron McClain went down with an injury during the game, apparently to his neck, according to the (other) AP. No word on what his situation is.
Jackie Battle also went down on his final carry of the game and we're not sure what it was. Looks like it could have been a shoulder or some sort of head injury. Again, no word on what his status is.
Hopefully these are the only two injuries that happened in the game, and they're not serious.

I was wondering where McClain went
Battle looked like it coulda been a neck too. They usually err on the side of caution when it comes to neck injuries
McClain tweeted that he was fine.
But players aren’t always the best judges of their health.
Chiefs now 2-3: Suck on that, Luck suckers!
Hope it's not a Sheffield neck.
Hope Battle just got his bell rung. That’s kinda what it looked like, he looked wobbly and they didn’t stabilize his neck at all.

Pretty sure Flowers injured his pride and is questionable for the game in Oakland
Standing on the corner in a white Godfather hat. He drives a long black gangster Cadillac. He can steal a broads mind, man, in three or four minutes. It’s not how long you talk, brother, it’s what you put in it.

AP might not know Lerons status but his twitter follwers do.
He was asked 1/2 dozen times yesterday and he said he’s ok.

did anyone else see
Pope limp up to the line for what was Battle’s last carry? He hopped up there and when the ball snapped manage to basically do nothing against his man except for not fall over. Battle still made the corner and got his yards but that had me concerned…..until I saw Pope still in the huddle for the next few plays
Becht returns?
I wouldn’t mind, I thought he made some good blocks.

For sure.
Pope is mainly a blocking TE anyway and I think Becht is a better blocker even though everytime he plays for us he’s literally coming off his couch to do it. Imagine what consistent practicing with the team could do for the guy.

Eh, he's old. Like me. I know that if I was consistently practicing, my knees would literally burst into flame.
I know what you mean, though. I do think it’d be best to make a decision one way or the other on important personnel like blocking TEs.

Jackie Battle
I’m pretty psyched I’m not the Chiefs’ GM or HC right now. I was disappointed that the Chiefs kept Battle on the roster. In the preseason I saw him only perform OK+ versus each team’s back ups. He didn’t seem elusive. That combined with the large number of RBs we were keeping on the roster led me to think he should have been cut.
Boy was I wrong…
Following the Chiefs more than I should be between late nights at a social networking software start up.
I think Indy was just a great opponent for Battle.
They’re full of fast, disciplined, small defenders that get in Dex’s way, but that Battle can shove around. Might be just the opposite vs Oakland.

On the flip side, did you notice that Battle is also half a step quicker than TJ to the hole?
All season TJ’s seen the holes, he just hasn’t hit them in time to get great yardage. The holes are there though.
I think Battle might be just barely fast enough to get there before the holes close. He just seems to get vertical faster than TJ, as evidenced on the couple of tosses he ran.
I agree, though, that IND is his ideal opponent. I’d like to see a good mix of him and Dex against OAK.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.
I think Battle's quicker to put his shoulder down than TJ.
TJ tends to dance more. Battle just tries to truck people.

Good call.
And when he does lower the shoulder, he seems to always generate an extra yard. Which while not sounding like much, is a big, big deal. it also changes the way people try to tackle you. They get so obsessed with going low that you’re almost guaranteed an extra couple yards.

Was Brandon Siler going to be a contributer at LB?
He was IR’d in the preseason, right? We don’t hear his named mentioned in the “players lost to injury” column.
He was IR'd. Last play of the last practice, if I remember right.
I don’t know if he would’ve replaced Belcher, but I think he’d be really valuable on STs and as a sub and mostly for his bad attitude.

mcclain brings so much to this team. I really think he makes next year without jones in the locker room easier if they choose to keep him
he seems to have taken on a leader role of sorts
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
Team Colquitt
Not 100% positive
but I read Battle’s lips after he got up from the play in question and he seemed to say “I just got my bell rung.” After all, he did lead with his head. Minor concussion, typical stuff for the NFL running backs. Hope this doesn’t ease his aggression against Oakland, he ran like a manimal yesterday.
