Catch the ball. Grading the receivers in the passing game.

*DISCLAIMER* The following stats were compiled from second half performance only.  I was unable to watch the first half. *END DISCLAIMER*

Both Matt Cassel and the receivers played an excellent second half. There were absolutely no drops and the receivers made the most of every opportunity they were given.  I am happy to have seen that as far as the second half is concerned there were relatively no mistakes made by the receivers as far as the passing game goes.

Star-divide

Dwayne Bowe was thrown to 8 times in the second half. He managed to catch 5 of the 8, one of three misses was off target and the other two were swatted away. I think we all know by now that he also made the best play of the Chief's season so far with his second TD catch of the game.

Final grade- A++

Steve Breaston was targeted only once in the second half and he caught it for the game winning touchdown.

Final grade- A+

Jackie Battle and Keary Colbert were both targeted twice and caught each throw. However, Colbert did fumble once after his catch.

Final grade- A for Battle and B+ for Colbert.

Thomas Jones and Terrance Copper were targeted once and they both caught their target.

Final grade- A for both.

The main thing to take away from the receivers second half performance yesterday was 0 dropped passes. This is very encouraging because there isn't much that is worse than watching a well thrown ball being dropped by the receiver. Colbert's fumble maybe a cause for some to be concerned but as long as he works on that in practice I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Bowe was a man amongst boys...

…but Colbert had arguably the biggest catch of the game, the big 3rd down conversion.

I heard Kevin Harlan on 810 this morning talking about Bowe.

Said something about no WR has more regular season 100 yard games or TDs than him since like late October of last year.

Also said he was elite among NFL WRs, of which there are a lot of really, really good ones. A man among boys.

Bowe is becoming an absolute beast WR. Maybe not the fastest, or tallest, or has the highest hops… but he might be the strongest. The guy is a monster with YAC and will not be denied when he gets the ball.

seriously grading the WR’s based on 1/2 of a game?

When looking at the Colbert fumble

To me it clearly looked like his knee was down before the ball started to come out

Copper also had a 9-yard reception.

Picked up most of it on his own.

Yes, this is absolutely all about tooting my own horn.

Ever since the end of the last season, I was calling for us to go after Steve Breaston. I thought he was the absolute perfect compliment to Bowe.

I like being right. So, thank you Steve Breaston. Thank you for making me look like an arrogant ass instead of a retarded ass (go ahead and have fun with that one guys).

So do the same thing I just did.

Be loud and proud. It’s fun to be right about these kinds of things. So enjoy it.

Yeah Citadel happens to be the same guy who told me not to

think of myself as the king of the draft, because my pre draft predictions were Houston and Hudson. And I never even mentioned king of the draft. But go for it man, toot your own horn and shut mine down….Bigshot :)

Come at me bro, and I will throw a 2 yard screen pass to my running back, come at me bro.

Hey, you got em right.

HOWEVER, Houston was not picked at #20. So I wasn’t wrong there either.

You got Hudson dead on though and I was wrong. I didn’t think there was any way he’d still be on the board for us.

Even still, I felt I had a right to toot my horn a little bit.

And you took my horn and smashed it into little peices. And now this…..
Boooo.

Come at me bro, and I will throw a 2 yard screen pass to my running back, come at me bro.

Well in reference to your above comment

I wouldn’t call you an arrogant, or a retarded ass, maybe a hypocritical one, but hey that’s me too. Go Chiefs! And good call with Breaston. That cat can BALL

Can't wait to see

Baldwin in the mix. I think his presence will only add to what Bowe and Breaston will do.
