Wow what babies, I was ingrained to this culture when I went to 7 home Chiefs games. When i moved to Ohio after the national anthem on friday nights I would always end it with “the home of the Chiefs!”
KU is just mad that Gil Turner ruined the program…Love my Chiefs. Respect!
Also Turner Gil just got a top 30 recruiting class after a season with Mangino's crap recruits
Even Mangino lost 8 straight before he was fired.
Chiefs go 7-9 this year and 3-3 in the division.
We have a top 5 rushing attack and a bottom 10 pass attack. Charles and Bowe in the Pro Bowl.
We have a top 5 pass defense and a bottom 10 rush defense. Hali, Flowers, and Berry to the Pro Bowl.

Seems odd...
to yell “chiefs” at a Jayhawks game. Really, just seems awkward to me. If people did that at a Mizzou game, I’d just think they were weirdos.
However, the crap about how Chiefs fans shouldn’t do it at Arrowhead is just sanctimonious posturing IMO. The Chiefs and their fans have just as much right to call American “home” as some abstract noun like “the brave.” People need to get off their high horses and chill out.

Agree
This is pretty much what I was thinking. As someone who as only been to a handful of sporting events and none in KS I don’t see the big deal. I went to a Rockies game in Denver, they changed, I don’t remember what to, maybe just the Rockies, but I kind of thought fans did that to rep their team. I think it’s weird at a basketball game but whatever, to each their own. I’m glad the Chiefs are being repped
by Spiderwomn69 on Jan 31, 2011 6:04 PM CST up reply actions
why would they be weirdos if they did it at mizzou?
Whats wrong with representing the Kansas City Chiefs in other places? Besides Columbia is just down I-70 from KC. Every sporting event I go to I put Chiefs at the end…but that’s just what I do. Also KU quit whining
I eat success for breakfast....with skim milk.
You just called a bunch of KU fans
sanctimonious.

haha, I was at the game and let me be the first to tell on myself.
I most certainly yelled “CHIEFS!” and I’m not sorry about it either. I think its awesome to see/hear Chiefs fans representing Chiefs nation anywhere.
Gator don't play no shit.

Wow
Ya’ll American’s sure get worked up about a song.

People do that at Mizzou games all the time too.
Including myself. Not gonna lie.
dude........
The National Anthem is played out! Who cares? I’ve never understood why they have to sing it at sporting events in the first place! America ain’t got shit to do with my sportsball.
I can't listen to the National Anthem without at the very least hearing home of the CHIEFS in my head.

Yawn
KU complaining? I am Jack’s total lack of surprise. Get over it, u will never have as much respect and folowing as the Chiefs do. Resolution: screen all the attendants to KU games and if they are Chiefs fans, don’t let them in the building. See how many people come to KU games then

I am going to get some flack for this
But I agree with the person. It is OUR National anthem. I have been out of the military for 9 years now. Have gained a ton of weight and don’t look anything like a Marine anymore. But when I stand up to hear the national anthem I stand at full attention with my body locked. It is a song that means the world to some that have fought for it. I don’t complain about it at the Chiefs game, but I also don’t understand it at KU or MU games. The song is a beautiful song the way it is. It was asked of Chiefs fans after september 11th if I remember correctly to stop it. That is my 2 cents. I know that I will get some flack, but I am one that doesn’t like it. Chiefs fans don’t have to change the words to a song that means so much to so many people just to show they are fans.

It's Called Freedom of Speech...
we can do what we want, and as a proud Chiefs fan and Kansas Citian for 24 years, I chant that out here in San Diego. If you’re a Chiefs fan and you feel it, I am of the opinion that it is your right to chant “Home of the Chiefs” anywhere you deem necessary. Former military myself, I do not think it is disrespectful at all. These Chicken Hawks need to suck it up and stop whining. Yet one more reason why I can’t stand Kansas or it’s fan base. You know why all the trees in Missouri lean to the West? Because Kansas sucks!!!
2010 Chiefs are on the rise. This is the most excited I've been since 'Nam...

Freedom of Speech
Well said, i didn’t get all the jawing about it being disrespectful to our anthem as if our anthem gets it’s feelings hurt every time some fan changes the last word. I was going to comment over there about this but I figure better not, no need to stir the pot, they are already angry and debating my opinion won’t make any difference in how they feel. I just disagree and I don’t think it’s disrespectful of our national anthem.

That is AWESOME
Jayhawks, Wildcats, Royals, whatever…you’re on notice, This is CHIEFS country and you’re all just guests here.

I believe it started when there were known Chiefs in the audience (Berry, Vrabel, Smith, etc)
And it’s apparently stuck.
When I was there earlier this year, it was when Vrabel was there (and I congratulated him on the playoffs…maybe it’s my fault we lost), and I thought it a bit odd that the “Chiefs” was yelled. It wasn’t just by a select few, it was a good portion of the stadium. I’m just as proud of the Chiefs as the next guy, but it seems a bit out of place at an out-of-state college in a completely different sport.

Good point, rec'd
And as a KU and Chiefs fan, I enjoy seeing the Chiefs players come to the KU games instead of Mizzou.
Lol
Only because its closer. Thats like saying I’m glad to see rams players at MU games instead of KU games.

I'm in the Navy
And I still yell it in my head when I’m at attention or listening to it at a game. It’s not a big deal…I’m proud as hell to serve my country, but I’m not gonna whine about it. It’s really fun to me and just something I do living in KC most of my life.
by rhinosaurus92 on Jan 31, 2011 6:44 PM CST via mobile reply actions
Really?
I go to Mizzou, and I agree with them. Its a basketball game. I think you can hold yourself from yelling Chiefs at the end of a song. Its annoying when people do it every Mizzou or kansas game and then (especially people that aren’t from KC) think that the KC fan base is disrespectful. I get it, yell it arrowhead its tradition. But why Allen Fieldhouse, Farout Field, or Mizzou Arena?
because it's called freedom of speech, first amendment
we have the right to, people want to support the chiefs, and there is nothing wrong with that because they have every right. no one’s gonna stop em either.
yeah, but you sound dumb.
Half of the crowd rags on the people that say it. The concensus is that it is fine at Arrowhead, but it is just dumb to do it at a totally different sport, and at the collegiate level. Your right, there is no way to stop total stupidity.

by fleetmarine on Jan 31, 2011 10:21 PM CST up reply actions
Consensus?
What does consensus have to do with being a fan? Since when did being ragged on become a reason to stop being vocal about a sports team?
I see it as – people are proud and happy to live in America, and they are proud and happy to support their favorite team, so they put the two together.
Count me as another vet who doesn’t see a thing wrong with it.
"The key to victory is not your strength, but your opponent's weakness." -T.
lets say for instance...
a bunch of ku fans start singing rock chalk jayhawk at the end of a chiefs game, wouldnt that be just flat out of place? same situation.
Are there likely to be non-Chiefs fans present at Jayhawk games?
The thing is, the HUGE majority of a Jayhawk crowd who are also football fans are from a Chiefs fan base. The reverse isn’t true.
"The key to victory is not your strength, but your opponent's weakness." -T.
I yell "CHIEFS!"
anytime, anywhere I hear the song. College games, bball games, concerts, soccer matches, frisbee golf courses, wherever. All across the country. Gotta respresent! If you have to ask why, you’ll never understand…
I'd rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave
They sing the anthem at frisbee golf courses?
God damn America loves them some America.

I guess I should go to Bramlage and yell...
“home of the Chiefs!” Really though, I’m not sure why people are so up in arms about it. Yes, the song is played out of respect for flag and country, what makes it so great is that people are FREE to say whatever they want at the end of the song. I feel it’s inappropriate anywhere but Arrowhead, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about it and grin ear to ear.
by Chief Willie Wildcat on Jan 31, 2011 8:59 PM CST reply actions
I agree Chief
I may think it, but it is inappropriate to actually yell in my opinon outside of arrowhead.

Either way, see you guys next monday.

Why do this person have to get so riled up about something so trivial...
when the real problem is 95% of the singers messing up the song. “And the hoOoOOOOOoooOo0ooo0o0o0o0o0omeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee offfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaeeeeeaaaaaeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaave.”

KU is a bunch of f@&$
But let me not stoop to thief level. I have been in the Army for going on 10 years now, if you ask my friends " you cut his arm off he bleeds red white and blue" and with that being said it’s a great feeling tingly sensation deep down in my soul when I hear the roar … And the home if the CHIEEEFS!! And I scream it loudly while saluting old glory!! Go F%#¥ yourself KU liberal complaining…. Deep breath… Is it time for the draft yet?!

It is about if it is needed outside of Arrowhead. I don’t think it is.

And am also baffled how it traveled from the hollowed grounds of Arrowhead to the Jayhawks court… Last thing I’d want is to be labeled as classless (chiefs) fans as a whole.

Outside of arrowhead
I probably wouldn’t yell it, but I would be glad if you yelled it. :)
"If ifs mattered, everyone would be undefeated." Enite
dont really get it
its a total chiefs pride thing and by no means anyway disrespecting our country or the ppl at the game in the eyes of the ppl yelling it. its all about chiefs nation and how we have become the best fans in the nfl by showing our pride everywhere we go. it really actually bothers me that ppl really care about this so much, should not be a big deal IMO. I would understand it being disrespectul if the ppl yelling it were actually on purpose trying to mock the US but that really isnt the case. I honestly havent yelled it anywhere but chiefs games at arrowhead and on the road, but i think its kinda cool to see that it has spread to other sporting events.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 2011-2012 SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!
I've heard it at high school football games also
I love it at Arrowhead but IMO thats where it should remain though I always get a chuckle when I hear it at other venues.
