Florida Confirms Charlie Weis, Hopes For Chiefs In Super Bowl

Stay connected for news and updates

On Sunday Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley confirmed that offensive coordinator Charlie Weis was leaving the organization to assume the same role at the University of Florida under newly hired head coach Will Muschamp. On Monday, the Gators confirmed the move as well.

Florida head coach Will Muschamp says Weis was a "perfect fit" for what he was looking for citing his pro and college experience as well as his four Super Bowl rings and his ability to develop quarterbacks (you listening, Matt Cassel?).

"Charlie will remain with the Kansas City Chiefs through the playoffs," Muschamp said. "We hope the Chiefs make a run to the Super Bowl - it would be great for the Chiefs and great for the Gators. Everyone involved with the Kansas City organization has been first class about the transition."

We can agree with Muschamp on one thing -- it would be great for the Chiefs if they made a Super Bowl run. The last time Weis left the NFL for college he made a Super Bowl run with the New England Patriots

Here's to history repeating itself....
