Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for the Baltimore Ravens. I think Ray Lewis is the best defensive player of the last 20 years, and that Ed Reed is a sure fire HOFer. I believe they have one of the most versatile backs in the game with Ray Rice, and a very talented trio of WR's with Boldin, Houshmanzadeh, and Mason. However, I do not fear the Ravens.
We all have fear pertaining to this upcoming Sunday. Some have fear because they don't think this team was truly tested during the season, some have fear because of our play this weekend, and some have other reasons as well. I 'll share my reason for fear below.
That's not because I'm a homer, it's because one game doesn't define who our team is. Did the Raiders absolutely kick our ass all over the field? Yep. Sure did. Fortunately that doesn't represent who we are as a team. If it did we wouldn't be 10-6 and in case you forgot, 2010 AFC West Champions. I can guarantee that our boys aren't sitting around thinking about how bad they were today. They'll watch the tape, say it was an aberration, and work like hell to prove that on Sunday. While this loss was embarrassingly pathetic, I think it truly could be a blessing in disguise.
If the Ravens had come into Arrowhead with the game plan the Raiders had today, we would be totally screwed without today's game. The Chiefs can look at the film and correct many of their mistakes, and make key adjustments. To me it looked as if the Chiefs just weren't very focused, almost like they were too busy puffing their chest's out over the week. This might turn out to be a much needed smack in the face.
I have no idea whether our beloved Chiefs will win or lose against Baltimore, none. Neither do you. That's why sports are so unpredictable and exciting. That's why the "experts" on NFLN and ESPN are worthless, they have no clue. Charles could rush for 2 yards or 200. That's why I have fear. I don't know the answer to the ultimate question this week. Who will win? It's the same reason I have fear every week. With all that being said, I absolutely think the Chiefs can beat the Ravens. This team has shown it has the overwhelming propensity to shock us.
Want a really good example? They're playing this coming weekend.
