2011 Senior Bowl: Oklahoma S, Boston College OT Among Chiefs Draft Interests

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs 2011 NFL draft prep tour continues at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. The Chiefs are meeting with lots of players and Shane Hallam of NFL Draft Countdown identified two they were talking with -- Oklahoma S Quinton Carter and Boston College OT Anthony Castonzo.

S Quinton Carter is listed at 6'1" and 211 pounds and hails from Oklahoma. He's a senior, runs the 40 in the 4.5 seconds range and is projected to be a second round pick. NFL Draft Scout has him rated as the top free safety.

I was watching Chiefs GM Scott Pioli on the NFL Network set along with Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff and NFL Network's Mike Mayock on Monday from the Senior Bowl and the topic came to Matt Ryan -- a former Boston College player. Mayock, a former BC player himself, noted there was another good BC player in this draft.

That would be Anthony Castonzo. The offensive tackle comes in at 6'7" and 305 pounds and scouting reports all mention how well-coached he is. There's a reason why BC has so many linemen in the NFL. Castonzo is projected as a first or second round pick

The idea of an offensive tackle in the first round is one that I'm sure will come up plenty of times between now and the end of April.
