Starters vs the rest
Seems to be alot of mixed feelings on who should start on both sides of the ball. Of course everyone wants to start, but there is no selfishness in championship teams. As long as a player can contribute to the team when his number is called is all that matters.
Jones vs Charles. Im glad that we are done talking about this one. We all know from the little tiny bit of taste we have gotten in preseason that this don't matter. Jones works the tough yards then Charles comes in as a change of pace guy and (blows everyones socks off!!!!!!) IMO. We all know Charles makes something outa nothing and he is going to be running even harder this year with not taking all those hard yardage carries. Then Battle takes a few and Mcluster chimes in. Im really excited for those four guys.
Next, linebacker this and linebacker that. DW impressed me in the preseason. Obviously this guy can play all four spots if needed to (except for Vrabel and Andy cause thats already a safe spot) . Look at the game he was in for Tamba. Not bad for working mostly in the middle. DW will play and make plays. Vrabel will sub in and out with Andy and everyone can agree thats ok cause the guy deserves to be on the field.
DJ and Belcher will both play cause they have shown improvements. DJ probably the best for pass coverage then Belcher is a more of a run stopper. Don't be suprised when Berry steal some tackles from these two though.
Corey Mays. Good job for sacking Favre in last years preseason because I haven't really seen you since then. But I will give you some O.K credits filling the gaps.
Just because starters start and others don't, its not the end of the world. Its OK, really its OK. Having guys come in certain situations and rotate in and out only keeps our players fresh and gains knowledge of the game. Would we want 22 players only playing the game? Getting beat up and not giving all they got all game long? While others dont even reach the field until the game is out of reach? No, 45 guys on that side line. They need to contribute in some way. Lets make Rivers walk off the field Monday night like the way Ryan Leaf did back in the day. For all you that will be there I want to hear the ESPN guys say " this stadium is going nuts" at least 50 times. Plus I really want to hear the "we're going to beat the hell outa you" chant from the broadcast as well.
CHIEFSSSSS
