What Improvements? No Games Played Yet!!

Been reading so much about so little. This player is all that, wait a minute he ain't neither! The D is better or not. The O is better or not. Glass is half full, wait second it's half empty. We will contend for the division by winning more than 50% of the games this year. Not this year, but wait till next year.

Bear with me, please? OK, let's take that leap and JUMP.

So let's look at some obvious improvements we can see but perhaps not measure. Being a Missourian by birth and residence I trust in what I can see.

First, it's called ATTITUDE. This team has shown a new attitude which is readily apparent, not measurable, but easy to see, Yes we have discussed this a few times. Also it is in it's infancy and I not only expect it to grow into something as the season goes by. Winning teams have it. Some will call it swagger. I do not care what you call it, I can see it.

Second, it's professionalism. A year in the system. New coordinators or the influx of talent. Maybe all of it. I can see this team lining up, knowing their assignments. Just like a real football team. Yes, we are a young team, but they are learning. They are focused. They are committed. They are becoming.

Many question the Defense and rightly so after a disaster that we all witnessed last year. What I have seen this year is speed in the secondary with 1 exception, which we have all prattled on about. The front seven has been discussed so much that we are drawing battle lines within the Chiefs community about who should play or not. My best observation is that the team is tackling for the first time in years. This should improve as the season progresses.

Many question the QB and it is a legitimate concern as this is the key position on a pro football team. I saw a few things that has me hoping this guy is the right guy. And I saw much of it last year, in season. I saw leadership, poise and a lot of moxie, things that you cannot measure. What he does this season is still in doubt, but for me I saw something in this guy that had me thinking he can play in the NFL. I hope he is this teams MVP, which would mean the team had a good year.

Let's talk about something that is extremely important, Field Position. Last year we witnessed very poor field position due to lackluster skills such as catching the ball. Tackling the other guy who has the ball. Kick returns and let us not forget the many 3 and outs. So far this camp much of these things have seemingly been addressed. Seemingly because we have not played a for real game as of yet.

So yeah! Are the Chiefs better? Most likely but time will tell. I think, this is just my opinion, that our team is much better. Is this going to be measured in the win/loss column? Again it's only my opinion but Hell Yeah! I also think this is going to be a much more enjoyable year to be a Chief's fan. Any improvements, measurable or not, will make this season something to go nuts about. That's what fans do and I am a fan. Go Chiefs.
