Chiefs WR Jerheme Urban's Season-Ending Injury Came Against The Packers

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jerheme Urban was surprisingly placed on injured reserve last Saturday evening when the Chiefs cut their roster down to 53 players. Much like Colin Brown last year, no one had any idea he was injured when the team announced his season was over.

As it turns out, Urban's injury came in the final preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, according to Mike Forman of the Victoria Advocate.

"It's a bummer," said Urban by phone from his Kansas City residence. "But it happened and I can't do anything about it."

The report says Urban "tore the flexor tender in his ring finger on his right hand" while blocking last Thursday against the Packers. He was scheduled for surgery today and it would take 10-12 weeks recovery team.

A finger injury sounds minor but as a receiver it's a pretty big deal. 10-12 months weeks would have put his return sometime in late November to early December so IR was the right move for the Chiefs.

Urban's injury is a reason many coaches prefer to let their starters see very limited action in the final preseason game.

Urban hopes to be training by December.

this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?

Unless it happened on Special Teams

Your drops are inexcusable. See you next year.

Eh, 7-9... To be revisited during the Bye week.

On a different note for recievers

Moss is unhappy in New England. Wonder how serious it is.

We have a shot...at what...we don't know yet.

by cmpotter on Sep 7, 2010 8:32 PM CDT reply actions

Agreed

and we KNOW Cassel can hook up with Moss. Even Daunte Culpepper could hook up with Moss..

He had 1200 yards last year

I’ll take whatsever in that tank. Dude is a bonafide HOF #1 receiver that’s shown he can behave and work in a system like we have here with Pioli. Sign that guy up.

He’s 33, Chambers is 32.

I'd rather be a failure at something I love than a success at something I hate.

Ive actually been wondering

if the Chiefs were possibly the “unnamed” team trying to get Vincent Jackson from SD

by badassz1987 on Sep 7, 2010 10:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Absolutely not

He’s a T.O. without the TV show yet.

2 DUI’s, a suspension, and a questionable attitude? No thanks

Is it really "a bummer"?

Now his salary is guaranteed, and he probably would have been cut.
If I was a bubble guy, I’d break something.

Fringe goes on IR

He may never play again in the league. I’d rather be cut and have a shot playing somewhere else.

He SURE didn’t do it while “CATCHING”

Dexter McCluster's fantasy stock has skyrocketed.

Unfortunate for the Chiefs, fortunate for my.fantasy team.

Really?

According to who? Espn? I took him with my last pick…stoked!

in our auction draft on espn he went for 19 bucks!!!

Bunch of Chiefs fans, figures.

Boldin went for 20

Bummer...

It’s a real shame to see our sparse depth become depleted by injuries.. especially among our young developing guys.

Let’s hope our starters are tough and solid.

This is ok

Urban has played in with Haley before and should still be good to have around. This is assuming guys on IR get to hang around practice and be on the sidelines game day…

Take the lemons and make lemonade!

"One of the teams asked me a running back question," McCluster said. "They said when you have the ball, do you focus on the guy who's in front of you or the next guy.

"I told them 99% of the time, I'm going to make that first guy miss. Then, I'm onto the next."

Thanks for dressing up my FS and making it perty and worth reading.

Blessing in disguise, Haley would of kept him around

because of their past

Urban has looked terrible this year

by Home skillet on Sep 8, 2010 10:18 AM CDT reply actions

am i the only one who is extremely elated about this?

Butter fingers, i say to hell with depth if he cant catch.

We shouldve learned that last year, just because behind Bowe we had a bunch of once recognizable receivers doesnt mean we have depth. None of them could catch.

Id take horne and copper over Urban, we dont need another Bobby Wade or devard darling
