NFL Cuts: Kansas City Chiefs Trade S Jarrad Page To New England Patriots
Per Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs have traded disgruntled safety Jarrad Page to the New England Patriots:
Filed to ESPN: Chiefs traded S Jarrad Page, who signed his contract only on Friday, to New England for a conditional draft pick.
Jarrad Page just signed his contract tender yesterday, which meant he would count towards the Chiefs' 53-man roster. The Chiefs ended up getting a roster exemption for two games but felt it was best to deal Page now.
The New England Patriots trade definitely makes sense, with the Scott Pioli and Bill Belichick history. Even though we're not sure what the draft pick is, this is nice work by the Chiefs to unload an unhappy camper for something at least.
We're still waiting on the full set of NFL cuts from the Chiefs. Stay tuned.

you was right, I was wrong...
gotta say, the bitterness in me would rather see him rotting on a bad team…

I'd rather see him on a good team...warming the bench.

guess that means the sleeves will already be cut

I think a fourth is probably right on the money...best case scenario is third and worst is
a fifth imo.

best case scenario
its a 6th maybe 5th. NO WAY they give anything more then that. hes not worth more then that.
Good to see something get done
Best of luck with your new team Jarrad.
Hey Page, play great
Get us the first rounder the Pats got from Oakland ; )
The 5th Dimension
#29 Eric Berry
7th round pick
Regardless of how high the pick is we get, he was a 7th round pick so anything is fair compensation considering most 7th rounders dont make a team in teh first place.

Tom Brady was a 6th round pick....but that doesn't mean he's not worth a couple of first rounders
I’m not happy if we get anything but a fourth or higher for Page.

They can only get what the market will bear
And frankly, I don’t think there was a huge market for Page.
I think that's the biggest concern they have
Since Leigh Bodden is headed to IR, NE secondary was a 2010 first round pick and second year players at LCB, and Safety (Chung) w Meriweather at the other safety spot. Was the youngest/inexperienced part of their D. This means they have little faith in their secondary. I also read awhile ago that since the Pats are usually notoriously thin at CB every year, there was talk of switching Meriweather to corner. Who knows. I’m glad this head ache is over. I’m excites to see the Brandons, Kendrick, and Berry roll some heads.

I'm inclined to believe these are the limits
I've been rapping for about seveteen years okay? I don't write my stuff anymore I just kick it from my head you know what I'm sayin? I can do that. No disrespect but that's how I am.
Well...
it could be a 6th that can turn into a 5th ro 4th depending on what happens. Something like that.
Not necassarily.
Could be no pick under certain situations. Conditional draft pick doesn’t necessarily mean guaranteed draft pick/
Unless he turns into Pollard #2....
…I’d say we’re going to get the floor based on his competition and the floor is definitely a 7. Competing for time with Meriweather, Chung, McCourty, and a boat load of other promising young players in the secondary, I can’t see him really standing-out.
Nevertheless, good thing we got rid of him for SOMETHING. Tying in even an outside chance of something higher that a 7 is gravy.

3rd to 5th....and most likely a fourth.

I said this on the fanshot
Hell be treated the same way in NE as he was in KC. So here’s your trade but good news is you still lose..
OTOH we should all vote Page to the pro bowl so we can squeeze a good pick out of NE

I was just about to say that
but you said it much better. A little like jumping from the ‘ol frying pan into fire. But I’m sure Uncle Bill will get the best out of Page!
Good Riddance
Nice to have that distraction over and something gained in the process. Plus he will sit on a bench in NE as a backup.
oh yes
he is under a 1 year contract there as well…
he played his ass off for the texans last yr
and he has already benn making big plays this pre season
I hope you are predicting he hits the conditional targets...
just makes it a sweeter pick for us
from Rotoworld (schefter I think)
The Lions must not have been that interested after all. The Pats are flush with safeties, veteran James Sanders may be on the outs. Page will fill a reserve role behind Brandon Meriweather and Patrick Chung.
New signature needed. (If you have wit and panache, please apply.)
I like how Pioli handled this situation.
Got rid of an unhappy player and managed to get something out of it.

Exactly
This played out in the best possible way. He’s gone, so he doesn’t disrupt things and we got a pick out of it. Even if it’s only a 7th rounder we come out good b/c that’s where he was drafted.
He was never a disruption, because he was never around. A minor distraction perhaps.

Well true
I’m just glad it’s over with, instead of hearing about it for the next month while they figured it out.
exactly better to have it over with now and move on fresh to start the season

They're practically rook's
Just because they brought in Page for depth doesn’t indicate the Pats are giving up on Chung. They have the youngest defensive secondary in the league. Picking up Page was a good move for them

If Page couldn't handle Haley, how is he going to deal with Belichick?
Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.
good bye Page
enjoy the bench, at least here you had a chance to contribute and be a part of something on the upswing.

Tick Tock
Should we not have heard final cuts by now?
Last year in the preseason we all thought our safeties were set for the future with Page and Pollard.
Now neither is on the team.
In 6 Minutes
NFL Channel will talk about roster cuts
Glad we got something for Page. Bit bummed he got to go to the Pats, wish we shipped him somewhere bad

This seems like a "payback" trade for the Cassel and Vrabel trade.
No matter what we think about cassel right now, the fact is that plenty of other teams were willing to give more for him.
What happens if Page doesn't pass his physical?
After all, he’s missed all of OTA’s, camp. pre-season. If he didn’t pass would he just become a free agent with no compensation to Chiefs?
If he doesn't pass
The trade is rescinded and he remains Chief property.

Even at that
He missed the entire preseason and will be going to a new defense. It will be 3-4 games before he will be in “football shape” to play.
think Chiefs would retain his rights if trade fails.
Willing to bet he’s stayed in game-shape.

I love the Page trade
He didn’t like the way the Chiefs new regime did things and he complained, so we shipped him to the Pats, the model for the Chiefs new regime.

Where Are the Cuts Already?
Question 2; where are the sources for a possible Chiefs interest in Leinart?
As far as I can tell
The Leinart news is just speculation at this point.
Surprised NE wants him with all their good young DBs.
But nice to hear KC got something.
Good luck to Page – looks like a nice spot to land.
He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

WR Demetrius Williams
He was a stud at Oregon…
Oh if anyone in interested
the Pats cut Eric Ghuicehchkdk the other day, thus completing his 32 team trip around the NFL. He is now rumored to have already been cut from 3 UFL teams in less than 24 hours and has set his sights on the Arena Football League after the UFL because more than glory he states “I always wanted to be in the guiness book of world records”.
Well way to go guy with a hard last name to spell that plays Center.

Cowboys waived WR Jesse Holley
and kept Sam Hurd. Holley is raw but made some good catches, other than his lamentable 12 yard loss play, which ya chalk up to inexperience.
that sounds oddly like...

The league should just put out all the lists.
Pioli may gain some minor advantage by maintaining the “Cone of Silence” a bit longer.

There's quite a few young QB's out there
Lots of nice options to upgrade Palko.
Harrel worth a look
As is Kregg Lumpkin they released, though not sure we want another RB atm.
Also will be interested to see what the Bears do
with Dan Lefevour
I'd rather have him
Than either Harrell or Leinart
