Kansas City Chiefs Preseason Stats: Wide Receivers

Building on our previous post about the Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks and their preseasons stats, we now give you the full preseason stats for the Chiefs' wide receivers.

In the interest of completeness, I've included all Chiefs players who caught a pass this preseason and included Terrance Copper as well, who registered no stats.

There aren't a whole lot of surprises in these stats:

  • WR Dwayne Bowe performed the best, in terms of receptions and yards;
  • RB Jamaal Charles had just as many receptions as Bowe did;
  • WR Verran Tucker had the second most receptions; and,
  • Dexter McCluster complimented his running game quite well with 7 receptions for 40 yards.
Check out the full, sortable table of stats, after the jump...

Click the header of a column to sort it. I'm not sure why the Yards column doesn't sort correctly.

Castille vs. Cox

Will be a tough choice on the cuts, I believe. I don’t see how they can keep both.

by sunny D on Sep 3, 2010 2:11 PM CDT reply actions

they did last year

I expect they may do the same this year as well. If it comes down to it though I dont know who I like more, but its pretty interesting watching Lokey play FB.
I really want Horne to make the team! But I didn’t know he only had one catch all preseason. Hopefully he his practice squad or special teams and can get some work in there.

The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.

by jrcnc on Sep 3, 2010 2:16 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah I had to argue it out with someone who said cox would be cut because teicher had said such things....

yeah…no…

I think we may keep both, but if we keep 1, I think its cox because hes the blocking FB.

Tim Castille

all the way.

It would be pretty crunk to have two fullbacks on the roster though, considering a lot of pro teams don’t even have one. And it’s a cool position.

Bowe Show!

D. Bowe seems to be ready to explode this year! Anyone notice how he does his lil’ celebration when he makes a play, BUT then quickly tosses the rock to the ref. I can dig it!! GO {KC>!!!!!!!

I want K.C. Wolfs' job!

by Jonezin4KC on Sep 3, 2010 2:17 PM CDT reply actions

how dare he do that!

its no longer D-Bo, its Dwayne Bowe!

The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.

by jrcnc on Sep 3, 2010 2:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Man I tell you what, when Bowe ran that shallow route across the middle and then damn near scored....

That play imediately reminded me of how Haley used Boldin in Arizona. I want to see more of those type of plays to get the ball in Bowe’s hands.

So you got the fax. So why didn't you add it to the resume? What do you mean? Of course martial arts training is relevant.

Anyone else see Urban as a surprise cut?

The Chiefs will finish .500 or better in 2010.

by Tony Perkins on Sep 3, 2010 2:25 PM CDT reply actions

lots of people predicting it today

might not be a huge surprise

this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?

by stagdsp on Sep 3, 2010 2:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, I'd be surprised if he DIDN'T get cut after his dismal performance this preseason.

So you got the fax. So why didn't you add it to the resume? What do you mean? Of course martial arts training is relevant.

yeah that would be the one thing that surprises me!

by jrcnc on Sep 3, 2010 2:33 PM CDT up reply actions

it's kinda surprising that he was that bad

his reputation is for having pretty good hands, and being a reliable team player.

I did see him blocking well… but that’s about it

this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?

by stagdsp on Sep 3, 2010 2:34 PM CDT up reply actions

I praised him on here numerous times

I watched alot of old highlights from the past two years of the Cardinals in the playoffs and his name was always on the field. He was always bringing defenders away from Boldin and Fitz and thought he may do the same here. Now I don’t think he makes the cut.

The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.

by jrcnc on Sep 3, 2010 2:39 PM CDT up reply actions

I think if we didn't have quite the massive dropsies problem last year he makes the team.

Drops will not be tolerated…. Haley’s blood pressure can’t take it.

So you got the fax. So why didn't you add it to the resume? What do you mean? Of course martial arts training is relevant.

we know that is your opinion

scroll down the mainpage a little and see the post about the QB’s. Go there to bitch about Cassel.

The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.

by jrcnc on Sep 3, 2010 2:40 PM CDT up reply actions

not gonna bitch about cassel in a WR thread

but it’s relevant the about the performance of the WR’s

the stats of the WR’s and which WR’s we keep doesn’t much matter when your QB can’t throw a ball accurate beyond 10 yards. simple as that.

and i only said this much because you pushed

by Home skillet on Sep 3, 2010 2:46 PM CDT up reply actions

say whatever you want

Im not pushing anyone here, just talking Chiefs, anything and everything Chiefs.
IMO Cassel can throw the ball accurately past 10 yards, Ive seen it this preseason and last season. All 50+ drops last year were not all Cassel’s fault, but not all the WR’s fault either. I think it comes down to both could improve, the WR’s and Cassel.

The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.

by jrcnc on Sep 3, 2010 2:51 PM CDT up reply actions

J Horne

Hope he makes the team, but his specialty seems to be getting down field. Problem is our starter can’t throw downfield. His one catch is on the QB play, not his. Our backs will have plenty of catches.

by vajazz24 on Sep 3, 2010 2:42 PM CDT reply actions

if we can run the ball, there will be openings down field, and play action/time in the pocket

some of it is a comfort level, if you are used to having no time, when you do have it, you dont know what to do with it…hes thinking protect, protect….hopefully he can break out of that and play football

We've been talking about surprise cuts, what about surprise keeps?

For example, no one (including me) has given Verran Tucker a real shot at making the team. Is there any chance we get surprised and he ends up on the final 53?

not a bad trade for a 7th round draft pick

I would like to see the next headline read

Vincent Jackson traded to Kansas City

I would dump him and eat the $$$ in a second to get Vincent Jackson

They'd never trade him within the division

Are you fudging kidding me?

A 7th? I would have made that trade in a second!

The Chargers just got a little better…. damnit!

which makes me very happy:)

by Randy5225 on Sep 3, 2010 3:05 PM CDT up reply actions

Yes they did get better...

Cause Jackson is gone reguardless. He wanted out and was gonna hold out until he got traded or paid.

So you got the fax. So why didn't you add it to the resume? What do you mean? Of course martial arts training is relevant.

by BigRedChief on Sep 3, 2010 3:24 PM CDT up reply actions

you don't know that jackson is gone regardless

they are making a choice

jackson is not worth X amount of money so they are willing to go a cheaper, less proven, route.

they could of changed their mind at any time and just paid jackson

they think that the QB makes the WR so they can make due with crayton

by Home skillet on Sep 3, 2010 3:34 PM CDT up reply actions

Ok, but Crayton isn't gonna be suspended for 4 games and...

… they can save some cap room and pickup a pick or two by letting Jackson go.

The headache will more than likely be gone. Yes they could still pay the man but do you really think they will?

So you got the fax. So why didn't you add it to the resume? What do you mean? Of course martial arts training is relevant.

I think your sorts aren't working (I noticed the average yards don't work right either)

because it’s treating the numbers like characters. Can you change the format value of the numbers to treat them as numbers? There’s usually a something in a software package that will let you do that.

A humble Bowe

Is the best thing for Cassel. Lets hope it turns into production and sets a tone for the offense to follow.
