I know we are all excited about the recent 3-0 start of the 2010 season. So am I. But let's hold back the playoff aspirations until week 17 or when we clinch it. The last thing the Kansas City Chiefs and their fans need is fan support meltdown.
Very few teams go to the playoffs after a 4-12 year in the middle of a rebuild. Sure we can expect winning like we all did in the 90's, but we still have a long way to go before we are perennial playoff and championship contenders. We need to take wins as we get them, and fans need to keep their head level. Let's just go one week at a time. I am not trying to bash the playoff talk, it's great and warms the cockles of my heart. The last thing we need is the fan support to fall off dramatically after a few losses. If the Chiefs lose our support, Arrowhead will start to lose it's aura and greatness that we, the fans, have brought back after 5 years of deep sleep.
Kansas City Chiefs fans are the greatest and are highly intelligent in football. Once again, it is alright to have playoff dreams this year (I do too!), but don't let a few losses hinder your support for this team. The last thing Kansas City needs are more fairweather fans.
I really want to see your predictions, realistically, for the 2010 season.
