Chiefs '09 Draft Pick Colin Brown On UFL's Hartford Colonials Roster
In the first week of September the Kansas City Chiefs released 2009 fifth round pick Colin Brown. He went through training camp in 2009 but was placed on IR before the season started and didn't make it out of the final cut down day so he never played a regular season game with the Chiefs.
He's not done with football, apparently. A reader (H/T ChiefMizzou09) noticed on the UFL's Hartford Colonials website, they list Colin Brown: 6'7", 335 pounds, Univ. of Missouri, 25. They also list his picture along with #22 OG.
I've searched around for game notes indicating that Brown has played for the team but haven't come across any (and guards aren't mentioned in your normal game recap).
Back in July, the UFL listed a few players on their rosters that weren't actually part of their rosters.
"Players listed on UFL rosters are a combination of signed and unsigned players," the UFL said in a release. "Teams own the UFL rights to the players listed on their respective roster provided they are not signed to another professional team's roster."
So...the UFL says Colin Brown is on the Hartford Colonials.
Unless he really isn't.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy
[The Kansas City Chiefs] are now a team that knows how to win. The power that was unleashed in that last stand (Chargers wk 1) is a rare thing. Teams spend tons of money in search of it, but it can only be found in the collective conciousness created by team builders.

There is a common link here. The UFL Hartford franchse coach and GM is Chris Palmer who was Parcells qb coach with the Patriots 96-96 and again in Dallas in 2006.
Texan, nice catch on that ... more "connections"
Pioli: hey Chris, Scott Pioli here, got a guy you might like …
Palmer: yeah? who’s that?
Pioli: kid named Colin Brown, was on IR last year for a phantom injury, plays OLine, from Mizzou
Palmer: not good enough to make the cut there, huh?
Pioli: well, not one of the Right 53 …
Palmer: how about the Right 106?
Pioli: you’re pushing a little, but maybe in a pinch
Palmer: awesome, thanks Scott, we’ll look into the kid
