SB Nation (Thank you Joel), FOX Sports, Walter Football, Pro Football Talk, and RealGM all have their NFL Power Rankings so I thought "my 2 cents is just as good as theirs" and decided to make my own.
My rankings have nothing to do with who is on the teams, who is coaching them, what region/state/city the teams are from, where the games were played, the teams history, my personal opinions, or any such non-sense.
My NFL Power Rankings are 1...2...3...by the numbers. What are DivineGrace's NFL Power Ranks you ask? What are these "numbers" I speak of? Find out after the jump...

To answer the most obvious question first...What crazy formula did I use to come up with this "NFL Power Ranking"? Let me show you...
...1) "Team Record": There are all kinds of Football stats out there, but none more important then "What is the teams record?". For that reason, the "Team Record" is the number 1 "Number" used to determine the teams spot in the Rankings.
All teams that have a 2-0 "Team Record" will always be head of 1-1 teams, who are always head of 0-2 teams, and so on, and so forth.
...2) "Average Point Differential": Rankings are cool and all, but we are talking about Power Rankings here. Average Point Differential (APD) is the Power in my "Power Rankings". Very simply put APD is on average, the number of points a team Wins (+) / Loses(< >) by, and will be the number 2 "Number" used to separate the teams that have the same "Team Record".
To get a teams APD...
...you take the number of points scored (ps) so far in the season.
...subtract the points allowed (pa)
...to get a teams total points (tp),
- then -
...divide the total points (tp) by number of games played (gp).
...to get your APD.As an example lets look at the #1 Ranked NFL Team (Green Bay Packers), and the #32 Ranked NFL Team (Buffalo Bills), 1...2...3...by the numbers....
#1 GB scored 61 total points (ps), and allowed 27 total points (pa) to be scored in 2 games played (gp). That makes their APD score +17.0. Here is the math...Total Points Scored (ps) - Total Points Allowed (pa) = Total Points (tp)
- or -
61 (ps) - 27 (pa) = +34 (tp) ((( This + Positive Total Points)))**
** + Positive Total Points = (ps) > (pa)- then -
Total Points (tp) / Games Played (gp) = Average Point (Power) Differential
- or -
34 (tp) / 2 (gp) = +17.0 (APD) (((This is a + Positive ADP)))**
** + Positive ADP = Average (ps) > Average (pa)#32 BUF scored 17 total points (ps), and allowed 49 total points (pa) to be scored in 2 games played (gp). That makes their APD score <16.0>. Here is the math...Total Points Scored (ps) - Total Points Allowed (pa) = Total Points (tp)
- or -
17 (ps) - 49 (pa) = <32> (tp) ((( This is <Negative Total Points)))**
**<Negative Total Points> = (ps) < (pa)- then -
Total Points (tp) / Games Played (gp) = Average Point (Power) Differential
- or -
< - 32> (tp) / 2 (gp) = <16.0> (APD) (((This is <Negative APD>)))**
**<Negative ADP> = Average (ps) < Average (pa)
...3) If teams have the same record AND the same APD then we have to have a 'tie breaker". While we will never know for SURE that if a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to hear it, if it makes a sound or not. I can tell you for SURE that a team that doesn't score points will not win a game. So our number 3 "Number" that tells the Men from the Boys is Total Points Scored.
At the end Week 2 the #7 Ranked Kansas City Chiefs and the #8 Ranked Miami Dolphins were both sitting on a 2-0 record...Both teams had a APD of +4.5...but the Chiefs scored more points (37) in those 2 games then the Dolphins did (29).
Advantage Chiefs.

Every week the numbers will change...
...Some teams will score points, win games, and more up in the Power Rankings.
...Other teams will give up points, lose games, and more down in the Power Rankings.
You may not agree with them, you may not like them, in fact... you could down right HATE them, but those are the NFL Power Rankings 1...2...3...by the numbers (Week 3) with DivineGrace.
