Chiefs vs. Browns: Jon McGraw Out So Kendrick Lewis Starts
The Kansas City Chiefs have released their inactives for today's game against the Cleveland Browns:
DE Tyson Jackson, RT Ryan O'Callaghan, CB Jackie Bates, FB Mike Cox, S Jon McGraw, LB Charlie Anderson, TE Jake O'Connell and LB Justin Cole.
Jackson and O'Callaghan were ruled out on Saturday night. The surprise here is McGraw, who appeared on the injury report Friday as probable.
That means Kendrick Lewis is already getting a start at safety. Considering his recent play, there shouldn't be much (if any) of a drop off.
The Browns inactives also confirmed that QB Jake Delhomme is out this game. It'll be QB Seneca Wallace.
You all ready for a couple of rookie safeties today?

Well They are better than
what we had last year…They seem to be faster too which will help in the run game. Let’s just hope that rookie mistakes are limited. Hopefully, Lewis just comes out swinging and we have our safeties set for many years…

Wow :)
Jamaal Charles...Enough said.
I don't know if i can think of a better game to start 2 rookie safeties
We’re playing against an inaccurate backup QB in windy if not rainy conditions
Good point
We saw what happened with the Nanaa play what happens with rookies, but I guess today is a good day to throw the rooks into the fire

hmmm so that means the new NT is active
We may see him in the rotation. I’m wondering will he spot Ron Edwards at NT or Shaun Smith at DE. If he does get PT, he’ll prob spell Smith at DE and allow Smith to move to NT to spell Edwards.

I'm a little worried
Our special teams leader mcgraw isn’t in there when we have to cover cribbs returns
Another good point
That could be huge. Arguably, that’s the Browns biggest scoring threat in this game.

Don't ever kick to him.
Kick the ball straight up in the air and let the upmen fair catch it on the 37 yard line. The fact they kicked to him a second time last year still blows my mind

Not so worried about Cribbs
Our ST has been practicing against Arenas and Dex since training camp. But on the flip side I don’t think our returners will do as well as expected because they practice against Cribbs
Agreed. BUT….one false move and either ST could get embarassed.
If last week is any indicator, we’re going to have a top-5 ST this year. CLE always has a top-5 ST. This matchup could provide a game-winner for either side because the other sides of the ball balance out so well.

My bet is Toribio will spell Edwards, Smith starts at DE.
So you think you are so important that no one can replace you? Put your finger in a bucket of water and pull it out. Does it leave a hole? Nope, just some ripples that eventually calm themselves!

...And Gilberry spells Smith.

Hopefully we see enough 3rd and long looks to spell Smith with a package change to the Nickel
As opposed to Gilberry spelling Smith on running downs where he’s basically outmatched.
Eh, 7-9... To be revisited during the Bye week.

Im not sure if Gilberry is stout enough
To play the run on 1st and 2nd down. I could see Toribio spotting Smith and Smith spotting Edwards after a 1 series rest.

Yes.

Even thought McGraw is out
Greenwood and Studebaker are studs on special teams.

ew...
This game is just looking ugly. 3 starters out. Not good. I guess atleast the weather may be better.
Well, at least Seneca Wallace is starting
I feel better about Lewis starting. Don’t care to see anymore Eric Berry circa week 1 mistakes.
Eh, 7-9... To be revisited during the Bye week.
Yeah.......
Seneca Wallace vs 2 rookie safeties is a whole different ballgame than Rivers vs 2 rooks……..if they were going to start, might as well be this game IMO.
Berry seems like the kind of player
who learns from his mistakes. I really doubt we’ll see a similar colossal screw-up from him anytime soon. He’s gonna be up in run coverage a lot this game anyway.
I think the kids will be all right.
What happens today tells us ALOT about what the staff feels about Alex Magee
WHether Toribio comes in and moves Smith to DE or if Smith stays at DE and Toribio backs Edwards, i guarantee it won’t be Gilberry as DE except in the nickel. That might work against the Colts, but not against a power running team. That could end up being as ugly as last year. I love Gilberry, but there’s a reason 270 lb DEs don’t play 3 downs in a 3-4 unless they’re playing LB.
Good observation
I forgot about Magee
by Larryemcdaniel on Sep 19, 2010 11:14 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions
I agree... and Magee did look good in situations against the Packers in preseason...
I’m sure that he will end up rotating from LE to RE subbing Dorsey, and Smith out on running plays.
Go Chiefs!!!!
It'd be nice to see Magee and Toribio play well against an OL that's used to a 34 front.
Both were MIA last week. Besides, their OL is missing a key piece (their rook RG). It sounds like their entire right side of the O-Line is weak—possibly even weaker than ours (John St. Clair and Pork Chop Womack?? Reminds me of Chris Terry and Kyle Turley, LOL).

I didn't think about this...
but this could be a game that our backups start gelling into the defense. Here’s to the defensive line closing the Brown’s weak line down!
Go Chiefs!!!!
Their left side is $ though.
Joe Thomas, Eric Steinbach and Alex Mack (truck)? Ugh. If I was CLE I’d run the wishbone all game long. Just replace all wideouts except Massaquoi with TE’s & max protect their craptastical right side.
Wonder if Daboll is that smart…HOPE NOT. :D

Jermey Horne is active as well
Maybe a deep route or two by the rookie today?
by Larryemcdaniel on Sep 19, 2010 11:12 AM CDT via mobile reply actions
Horne
AHHHHHHHHHHHH, I can hear the talking heads already. "We knew about Berry, Mcluster and Arenas, but WHO is this guy who scored 3 touchdowns scorching the Browns defense when they flew up to stop the run since we all thought Cassell couldn’t throw it deep.
Deja Vu...
Last time McGraw was out was last year against the Browns and Cribbs lit us up on ST. Not good..
"Success is never ending, failure is never final."
Anybody catch that piece with Arian Foster just now on ESPN?
Texans got themselves a good one. With a running game and their defense playing the way it is, they can win that division.
Eh, 7-9... To be revisited during the Bye week.
Is it just me or are the announcers already talking pro Browns?
They keep yaking and yaking about the 268 last year, but no mention at all that Dorsey was out. I hope we smoke the Browns just to shut these jacklegs up…
