Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cleveland Browns: Open Thread
Who: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cleveland Browns
Where: Cleveland Browns Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio
When: Noon, central time
Browns on SB Nation: Dawgs By Nature
Listen to the Chiefs online: 101.1 The Fox (Click Listen Live in the upper right hand corner)
And we're about to start Week 2 of the NFL regular season.....
The Kansas City Chiefs have traveled to Cleveland, OH, to take on the Browns today. It's a rematch of last season's Week 15 contest that saw Browns running back Jerome Harrison rush for 286 yards in a 41 to 34 Cleveland win.
I don't think Cleveland will see those yards or those points (or anything close to it) this afternoon. I'm taking the Chiefs in a solid win, 24 to 13. Get your predictions in before the game.
GOOOOOOOOO CHIEFS!!!!!

I just put that in the predictions page
If the chiefs score over 28 and hold them to 10 or under people will start talking playoffs
if we beat the Browns today..
it changes nothing…its two bad teams playing eachother….(thats what critics will say). We wont get any respect til weeks 5 and 6…gotta have a good showing against Colts and Texans…hopefully win at least one of those games….then people can talk playoffs
The Browns are who we thought they were! Horrible :)

14-10, Chiefs
Though I’m not sure the Chiefs offense can score twice. See if a big turnover or a return comes through today.
I doubt that Craig....the enegy in the Dawg pound is going to be a lot like Arrowhead...
only the Decibel level won’t be louder than a Boeing 747 taking off…which is what it is at Terrorhead.
What scares me is that it’s their home opener….that makes it tough.
I look for a very close game….and a Chiefs win if we can manage the clock right, and on the strengh of a Succop FG.

Plus if history is any sort of indiction.....
We’ve won in Cleveland just ONE time in the last 30 years….by a margin of 1 point.
40-39.
Hopefully we can start bucking that tradition today.

I would love to agree with everyone...
But I think it’s a Chiefs win in a squeaker. There is nothing that Cassel showed me last week that makes me think we have any chance if we fall behind by much. He was horrible. I know it rained because I sat through it the whole game, but Rivers threw for a ton in those conditions.

I gotta say
A 2-0 start for this team would be incredibly huge. It gives the players a taste of what they can do and I guess validates Haley’s methods over the last year and a half.
If the Chiefs think they’re legitimate contenders, then they have to beat the Browns and Rams of the world.

Let's go Chiefs!
I got us as 27-17 for today. I’m really expecting Cassel to look good…200+ yards passing and a TD. I think we’ll score on the ground for the most part though.
Keys to the Game: 8 in the box, stay disciplined on Senaca rolling out, contain Josh Cribbs.
Notice all of that is on Defense. The D does its job and we win 10 times out of 10 (as long as we don’t lose to turnover battle).

I'm feeling 24-14
Our 24 will come from an early FG, a long Charles run sets up an easy TD pass, Jones smashes one in from short yardage, and a nice PA pass to Bowe or Chambers that fools the D.

Stewart or Harrison
Pitt is going to run the ball and Dixons safety blanket is Ward, Dex is too much of a question mark, Oakland actually has a decent pass defense, and Stewart is playing the weakest opponent and they will run the ball alot. I don’t like betting against my own team but Harrison could have a decent day.

Chiefs have won once in Cleveland in 38 years?
And that was the infamous helmet-throwing game? Wow, I couldn’t believe it when Mitch said that.
my guess is that we go down early and quicky. We get back in the game and our RB gets 4 TD’s and we go up 36-31 late in the 4th quarter. However, the browns drive up the field and get a touchdown, but fail to get the extra point. We get to about the 40 yard line before our QB gets hit and fumbles with 8 seconds to play. our LT picks it up and runs 40 yards down the field before getting tackled. However, their DE takes off his helmet before the end of the play and throws it resulting in a 15 yard penalty and putting us in FG range and we kick the game winner.
just a guess though

Cassel look fine so far.
Dex fell down on the deep out.
Dex stopped running on a screen.
Moeaki got hit in the hand.
Quit whining.

I disagree.
He had no business throwing to a 5’7’’ receiver on a deep-out in double coverage. Not to mention that if Dex didn’t fall down, that ball was too high for him.
Dex stopped running but I don’t see the master plan that Cassel had to lead him further toward the sideline when he was wide-open in the flat.
Moeaki got hit in the hand because he was not open.
The best pass he threw was to D-Bowe over the middle and it resulted in a first down. Other than that, he is not making progressions to the open receiver, he’s just locking-on and throwing it regardless of coverage.

Well, I guess that's something
3 points for KC and Succop puts up points for my fantasy team. Our impotence in situations like this is actually why I took him for fantasy, figured he’d more of these kind of chances.

really wonder why charles doesnt even come in the game the first 2 series...
I dont care who starts, but does it really mean he has to disappear the first quarter?
I think they want to wear down the defense a bit, find a hole, and put charles in to hit it…we will see

I agree
They lull the defense into a comfort zone of speed. Then whenb they feel the defense is wearing a little, boom Charles and the game just got faster

Do they not want to score?
Why do they insist on running TJ over JC!? This is driving me nuts! Yes TJ has his first run go for 10 yards, but I would rather see them use him as a 3rd and short RB and let JC get the bulk of the carries.

Carr is looking up...
he was having trouble during training camp but he’s looked great in the regular season. Its a good thing because between Flowers, Arenas, and him, OC’s will probably pick on him a lot.

They had Cribs on the outside with no middle help for our CB…..slant inside could have gotten some yards….maybe not 1st….but a handfull of yards.

low % of blitzing, cassel looks lost in the pocket, and 1 carry for Charles. Coaches need to readjust their gameplan.
penalty gives them new life and they get the TD

lets hope the o can answer back and have already made adjustments
Helloooo, everybody!
Been whatching all the games, but that was a sweeeeet INT by Flowers. The D has shown alot of improvements so far this season. GO CHIEFS!!!
kc scoring
long charles run 50 + yards
meoki td catch set up on fumble return inside the ten partial credit to defense
mcluster punt return
fg set up by fumble recovery by d
flowers pick 6
WHERE IS THE OFFENSE!
The offense was spose to be the most improved
Looking for big adjustments
At half time. We need to get something going on O and give the defense a nice breather
