Nearly 12 Million Watch Kansas City Chiefs Beat San Diego Chargers

Once again, I am talking about the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers game after writing my "final word" on the game this morning. You'll have to excuse me for that but I found this tidbit particularly interesting.

When the Chiefs beat the Chargers 21-14 on Monday, the country was watching.

Maybe not the entire country -- but a lot of them.

ESPN has released the viewing numbers from Monday's game and 11.89 million folks tuned into the game. I think that shows the power of the NFL considering the game started at 9:15 p.m. -- 10:15 p.m. on the east coast -- and didn't end until 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

The first game between the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens drew nearly 15 million total viewers. Considering the super-sized New York market, I think the Chiefs should feel pretty good about the Monday's viewership.

The Chiefs-Chargers game is now third in total cable audience this year.
