Chiefs vs. Chargers: Dexter McCluster Practices Saturday Evening
In preparations for Monday Night Football (and a 9:15 p.m. start) against the San Diego Chargers, the Kansas City Chiefs are holding a night practice at Arrowhead Stadium this evening.
Hours ago McCluster was ruled as doubtful for the game against the Chargers. Doubtful, in the NFL's language, means that a player almost certainly won't play.
Bob Gretz reports on CBSSports.com that McCluster practiced on Saturday evening. That has to be considered a good sign even if it were just individual stuff he was doing. He missed practice on Friday, was listed as doubtful on Saturday and then practices on Saturday evening.
What kind of illness could Dexter McCluster have that would prompt the Kansas City Chiefs coaches to list him on Saturday afternoon as doubtful but then to see him practice that evening?
That's an interesting time line there but everything at this point is speculation.
Also practicing was LB Tamba Hali who is questionable for the Chiefs. It's seemed likely this week that Hali would play despite missing a little time earlier in the week with some sort of ankle injury.
Stay tuned on McCluster. It's possible we haven't heard the end of him in week one. The Chiefs are conducting a walk-through on Sunday (no media) so we won't know McCluster's status until game time.

Doubtful w/ illness
But practicing……..he will play
Well, if it's something contagious, requiring a medicinal regimen then the Chiefs
may be prohibited by league rules from fielding him. Hope not.

Come on
The Dex is too valuable to this game. Everyone will be so pumped to see him on MNF. I really hope he can play Monday…
When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.
Jamaal above all. #25 ftw.
Tactics!
They don’t want to show their cards too early for the Chargers!
Jamaal Charles...Enough said.
That there...
is some great news. We can’t take the bow off of our brand new remodeled stadium on MNF without our OW. Without one of them anyway. Norv Turner got excited for a few hours. Now he has blue balls.

Yeah with LP
he’s probably going to play.
p.s. The Chargers are the little abortions that got away.
LOL!
Too bad Butler is on IR, He could have learned a lot from Merriman…
Such how to inject steroids, be overrated, and over pursuit.

Hey guys think
what they are doing it trying to put that news out so the Chargers a think they have some room to breath ya know it’s a sneak attack
~Im a star n the making just ask about me im soon to be da Chiefs 1st round pick~
I think D MO
starts in Tambas place
"I’d go to battle with him every day of the week." Todd Haley on Matt Cassel
This statement is why I am on the Cassel train, drinkin the Kool-Aid!
I'm tryin' ta think about who they rotate into Hali's spot. I'm coming up with Demorrio.
Or even go more 4-3, with Gilberry, maybe?
The intention, according to NFL.com, is Sheffield, but HE’S out.
With the guys they have, I’d be inclined to start Studie at that LOLB spot, like you say, and maybe team him up with DJ, to frustrate Gates. Vrabel at RILB behind Demorrio on that weak side, mostly as a complement to whatever Demorrio generates (or gives up). Depending on where the TE goes, I kind of like DJ switching along with, and smacking the TE at the line, regardless. I see him as a nice foil for the TE in the pattern. Studie has a pretty convincing zone drop, too, so DJ and he could trade off on attacking upfield.

"Oh? So what exactly are you lying about?"
You're hurting my brain.
Don’t make me think tonight Millsy. :)

The Hali,Vrable,Johnson and Studebaker combo is money!
Dont worry Hali’s playin
would love to believe its a smoke screen, its just a bit obvious, and worries me...I dont know what to think except that we waited a long time for week 1, and we get a mystery illness to our OW...sigh
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
Team Colquitt
Stop playing with our emotions!
Other Arenas wish they could be like Arrowhead Stadium and when rivals think they are going to be fine on an island of Flowers, they will get hit by what feels like a Carr. Ultimately, they will never be able to eat a Berry ever again.
Yeah... Dex is injured all right...
This is a Patriots tactic straight out of Pioli’s playbook. They are effing with San Diego, and I love it.

we need him this week this is a real opportunity for the Chiefs.
If the Chiefs don’t turn the ball over I think they have a real chance.
