Chiefs Training Camp: Brian Waters Makes His Debut
Moments after I wrote a story on the Kansas City Chiefs staying healthy during training camp and pointing to guard Brian Waters as the guy that will likely miss the most time, Kent Bab of the Kansas City Star passes this along from practice this morning:
Brian Waters is finally practicing, going with the first offense.
Waters started training camp on the exercise bikes. Most were thinking he failed the conditioning test but early in camp Todd Haley disputed that letting us know that he passed.
Neither Haley nor Waters have commented on his injury.
Waters has been seen walking with his right ankle wrapped. He had a training camp injury last year that bugged him all the way through the season so it's possible it's a continuance of that injury.
It's good news that Waters is back. His backup, Darryl Harris, went down last week with some sort of injury. The Chiefs were playing with their third sting left guard in Ikechuku Ndukwe.
For the first time all year, the Kansas City Chiefs starting offensive line is at full strength.

It's not like Haley to do soemthing like this...
but I wonder if Waters convinced Haley that he would be best holding off a week before going into full-on practices, considering his age and tenure with the team. Maybe he and Haley came to an agreement that Waters would “take it slow” and ease his way into practice by spending the first week in the bike area doing individual exercises with a personal trainer.
It’s not like Haley to play favorites like that, but as he says: “Whatever gives [them] the best chance to win.” Maybe Waters convinced him this would be best for someone at his age and skill level?
Just a thought.

My long, drawn-out predictions that no one cares about, nor will bother to remember:
1. Todd Haley will still be the Chiefs Head Coach up to the 2011 season.
2. Clancy Pendergast won't make it to the 2010 season and was never intended to. Last-minute hire for a position that needed to be filled.
3. Todd Haley will not be the OC at the start of the 2010 season.

good thought and maybe its true
Waters could have just went down Favre’s route and kept the team in limbo.
This is our year.

I want the guy in DECEMBER, when it's cold, and I ain't sure how much is gained puttin' a lotta summer miles on his tires.

"Oh? So what exactly are you lying about?"
Brian " Still Waters runs deep "
Haley’s "Comet " figured out { Not to serve Waters ; until it is time . It works for Brett Favre ( favor) .The advantage of being an " Old Guard " .
Can't wait to see the O-line at full speed this Friday
Hopefully Waters’ presence helps tighten things up but the results from Saturday’s scrimmage are a bit discouraging to me. I’d love to believe that our pass rush is just that much better, but I don’t want to get my hopes up yet. Just keeping my fingers crossed.
here's some koolaid for ya:
last season, Tamba dominated Ryan Clady.
last season, Brandon dominated, or at least prevailed over Elvis Dumerville.

Vrabel's working on his game, and KC is churning roster at OLB (as they should).
Crennel’s talking about stopping the run (as he should).
While everyone’s talking about the Front 7, my eye is really focused on the Front 5. I think ILBs are going to look good/bad in direct proportion to that Front 5’s control of the territory between the hashes.
Hard to say just how much improvement we’re going to see, but I think that without a Wilfork in the middle, KC’s looking for a pair of DEs to play OLB for ‘em this year, or for their OLBs to play like DEs. Hali’s the one. I’m just not sure who the other will be, even though Vrabel’s got the inside track, for now. (Still campaigning for Vrabel as SILB and the biggest and bestest of the young’uns playing a DE style of SOLB).

Starting Lineup?
Albert, Waters, Niswanger, Ndukwe, O’ Callaghan
I really like Wiegmann…but I would rather have a Vince Wilfork go against a bigger center.
Lilja over Ndukwe
Wiegmann will probably start the year at C with Niswanger an injury away

I've had the same dream every night this week. I think it means that the spring season flopped and my subconscious has gone into reruns.

Starting lineup may not mean much, if Waters' current on-again/off-again situation persists.
I’m partial to Lilja and Waters splitting time at LG, and a bigger, younger guy, like Asamoah, at that RG spot. I’m not sure Lilja has the size KC needs on that right side; I’m not sure how long Waters can go; I’m not sure there’s anyone else on the team who can play that LG position at Waters’ level.

Confirm night practice tonight?
Can anyone confirm that there is a night practice this evening? If so, what time?

all 4:30pm practices originally scheduled the rest of training camp have moved to 6pm because of the heat.

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Question...
has Asamoah played any at LG? And what is
a third sting left guard
2010 Chiefs are on the rise. This is the most excited I've been since 'Nam...
Full strength?
I would say that with Waters back we can finally see our projected starting line play together, but I don’t think Waters is probably full strength yet.
