Best Draft Ever?

Are some of you mad about our recent draft picks? I was....but after reviewing our wonderful training camp coverage, I truly believe we locked in five or six starters for the future.  I was upset . Not only was I upset, I didnt undertsand what our management was doing. We had passed on so many "sure" picks and went for stud players in the second round even though we arguably could use other positions. Don't get me wrong. I love the Eric Berry pick, but I had kind have hoped for an outside linebacker or a nose tackle in the second or third round.

After the recent good news from camp, I am "cautiously optimistic" about five or six players starting by at least 2011. Think about it.

Eric Berry...sold!

Dexter McCluster bothered me at first, but his position is undeniably becoming one of the most coveted in the NFL. Sleek, sexy, slot receivers will become cornerstones of every team as the league becomes more passing oriented. Great pick!

Javier Arenas also scared me at first even though I knew he was a solid player. My take: Most importantly it proved that Pioli and co were set with their right tackle and outside linebacker, possibly even nose tackle. As I just said, slot receivers will ruin defenses. If they are the future, then we will need strong nickel backs.

Jon Asamoah is a beast and seems like a great guy! I was really happy when he was still around and the Chiefs pulled the trigger! He will surely start in a game or two and hopefully have a full time role soon.

Tony Moeaki just sent me to sleep pissed on the second night of the draft. I didn't know him and he seemed risky. The more I read about his past injuries and his present play at training camp, I become more enamored with our scouting staff. He seems like a sure starter and his injuries seem negligible.

All I hear about Kendrick Lewis is that he is dominating in camp. He is already bobbling on and off the first team. We get it! He's gonna be a first teamer sooner than later!

And Cameron Scheffield....Project written all over...good to know we are planning.

Bottom line: Nearly all of them will start in 2011! Pioli trusts in his lineman on both sides of the ball, and he just filled so many spots on the active roster. These kids will play and it will be soon...

Go Chiefs!!!
