Waiver wire/trade one stop....
via www3.pictures.gi.zimbio.com
With the permission of Tomahawk44,(his idea originally) I have posted this up to give everyone here on AP a one stop thread for all waiver wire activity. In the coming days there is going to be alot of activity. Lots of names, some better than others are going to be hitting the open market, lets all come to this spot and discuss it.
As soon as someone sees that anyone has hit the open market or swung a trade of some sort, post a link in here and lets have at it. So far there are quite a few names still out there but off the top of my head:
QB
Kevin O'Connell cut-NYJ
WR
Lance Long cut-KC
Antonio Bryant cut-CIN
Laveranues Coles cut-NYJ
TE
Tony Stewart cut-OAK
RB
Justin Fargas cut-DEN
Derrick Ward cut-TB
OL
Adrian Jones cut-PITT
I know there is more so help me out and I will update who of note got the boot and when they sign, I will update their new team. Honestly I can see the Chiefs maybe taking a chance on an Offensive Lineman or two, but other than that, even though Coach Haley say's we are lacking depth everywhere, I feel pretty comfortable with how this roster is shaking out. Look for alot of veterans to continue to hit the market thus giving them a better chance to catch on elsewhere.
What do you think? Are we going to make a waiver wire pickup, or sit back and roll with what we got?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Thanks man
heres another interesting cut….
Adrian Jones was cut by the Steelers
I know a lot of people on here really liked Jones
Chiefs Will
damn wasn't expecting that one!
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
I think the only type of player we will look at
will be OLine help, or someone who had no business being cut, and we can snag them immediately like an instant starting Linebacker or Nose Tackle.

Or maybe a CB...Carr still scares the bejesus out of me. I have memories (nighmares?) of Mark McMillian...
Anyway, great thread idea!
if and when
Carr can turn his head around, then he will be a lock down CB. You already have Flowers on the otherside so they are going to pick on Carr all day long. Hopefully they are going to help him with turning his head around and recognizing where the ball is at. Once he does that he is going to get at least a few more INT’s and passes defended.

Yeppers! I'll REC that 'cause that's it in a nutshell...
I could not agree more. Problem is, he doesn’t have much time left to fix that. In my mind, he showed a NEW glaring fault last week when he successfully defensed a pass by stripping the receivers arms just as the ball arrived.
Since he (again) didn’t turn around and simply keyed on the receivers sticking his arms out for the ball, upcoming opponents watching tape of this will realize all they need to do is stick out their arms early, Carr will key on this smacking the receivers arms, and, since the ball isn’t there yet, he’ll be a sucker for a PI penalty.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m NOT a Carr hater…I want the guy to make it. He’s worked his tail off this year, and is much better than last year. Big problem is last year he sucked. I agree also that with Flowers on the opposite side, Carr is currently the weak spot, and will be the whipping boy, especially on 3rd & 5 and longer situations.
I really hope Romeo can work another miracle!
I will take the comment in the spirit it was given :)
Carr will get a ton of attention by both the coaches and the enemy.
That is a good thing, unless Flowers gets all big-headed and thinks the throws will not come his way too.
Carr is a bigger CB and will be matched up on the bigger/ somewhat slower posession receiver IMO. Can Carr defeat a Bowe type WR every time? NO, he won’t but that is his job to get better at. The Chiefs have a nice set of skills in the three CB’s that make up the nickel D.
Arenas gets the slot/smaller quicker WR’s, and Flowers takes on the smaller/speed WR’s. Seems maybe in my mind that Flowers gets the #2 WR more often and Carr goes up against the #1. Please tell me if I am wrong :)
Ninja Ass
If they want to double-team the #1 WR
It may may more sense to leave Flowers in single coverage on the #2 WR.
Great start
I was wondering if you can break it up into position sections
QB:
Kevin O’Connel – cut NYJ
WR:
L. Coles-cut NYJ
Lance Long-cut KC
and so forth :]
Other Arenas wish they could be like Arrowhead Stadium and when rivals think they are going to be fine on an island of Flowers, they will get hit by what feels like a Carr. Ultimately, they will never be able to eat a Berry ever again.
yep I will get on this now!
F.Y.I. just saw Cody is out 2 weeks
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
I still think the guy is too soft to handle the pounding of an NFL level NT
He needs to get into better shape. He manhandled a lot of O Line in the NCAA due to the sheer size difference.
In the NFL, these C’s and G’s handle guys his size every week. And there are some rough, mean nasty road graders on the interior line of a LOT of teams at this level. Different ball game.
I still think Cody can be good. But there’s a caveat of – if he can get his ass into good enough shape to take the beatings that will most assuredly come from NFL level interior O Line.
Chiefs - back in the playoffs in 2011.
Kind of like how TJax got by in college on sheer physical ability
Now that he’s in the NFL and some of these mutant RT’s in the league can’t be beaten by TJax’s size / strength alone, it’s now that he’s having to be coached up and learn to develop good technique to compliment that size. And it takes awhile.
Chiefs - back in the playoffs in 2011.
good assessment
hopefully TJax can put it all together and this year his technique will blossom with the help of Crennel. As for Cody I still kind of wish we had taken him, but now with knee injuries occuring its looking alot more iffy.
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
Charger cuts from BFTB
The #Chargers have released WR Gary Banks, ILB Darry Beckwith, G Lee Grimes and RB Marcus Mason. LB Donald Butler placed on Reserve-Injured.
GASP!
Gary Banks being released I totally get, because there’s a lot of depth at WR and he’s been nothing but disappointing throughout the preseason. The same could be said for Marcus Mason, and I guess now he has a chance to land on another team and get a shot to impress the coaches before they cut down to 53.
Darry Beckwith is the shocking name on this list. He is a 2nd year ILB that I thought had been playing some decent defense (albeit as part of the third-string unit), but it’s his performance on Special Teams that had people like Kevin Acee predicting that Beckwith would land on the final 53-man roster.
thanks for posting them
I think Im going to stick with high profile names in the original post. It will fill up way to fast if I put in everyone that gets the boot.
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
I knew someone would say that!
and Chiefs connections that somewhat contributed. I for one would like to see who signs him.
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
Sorry
for being “that guy,” but i found it a little humorous
Big Gulps EH????? All right.....Welp....See Ya Later!
no its cool
I fully expected it to happen. I imagine some team, just like we did last year, are going to make the comparisons to “you know who” (not Voldemort) with Long meaning they will snag him up. Not to mention we dumped him early to give him that chance. That is the only reason I kept him up there. And to piss off H2E a little :)
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
I like Beckwith
but it seems like we are pretty deep at LB or I would want us to sign him
Chiefs Will
I'd still take a chance on him if they like him
Never hurts to try to upgrade the team, even if he just plays special teams for a while.
If there was one position group I'd be happy to overstock right now
It would be LB.
For one, to keep our current guys motivated and scrapping for a starting spot.
And also because – hey, as long as we have Vrabel, stock up on young LB’s who can learn from the guy before he finally hangs it up.

NYG have about 3913 guys that are DE's or DT's
They strickly run a 4-3 but if they are cut from the Giant’s front 4, they could still be good ball players and might be a decent look at OLB or DE.
I can see them cutting 3 or 4 DLinemen, but I don’t know who they would be. So ya, basically this was a useless comment. You’re welcome.

Another possible name
Taken from another board:
DL Jarron Gilbert out of SJSU…remember him? I wanted us to draft him when he came out. Chicago drafted him even though he had 5 technique written all over him. He’s struggled to date there and there are rumors they are debating what to do with him and may release him. Would love to trade for him. He showed up in their last preseason game so I dunno if that will make them rethink keeping him but I would love for KC to make an offer for him. Very athletic big guy 6’5 280. I think he could be a good addition for us.
The pool jumper
hell yeah man. Actually, I too was upset when we passed on him for Alex McGee last year. He has a great motor and is actually more around 290, which is the ideal size for a 34 end (although size is very unimportant in all honesty).
Should the Chiefs look at M.Leinart?

Im going way on a limb here
but seeing as how RT is still a position of question with O’Call’s injury, and Richardson filling in, is there anyone on here who would want to try and swing a trade with Atlanta for Tyson Clabo? He’s 6-6 331, 6th year pro, and re-signed a one year tender with Atlanta. Im sure we could offer maybe DaJuan Morgan or work out a sign and trade with Page for him, and Pioli and Atlantas GM are suppost to be “close”. What do you think?

Chiefs Will
looks like Greg Olsen may be available for trade:Chicago Sun Times;
Since then, there has been nothing but tireless propaganda about the way Olsen fits into Mike Martz offense. Now, it seems possible that the struggles of 2008 first-round pick Chris Williams could lead to a trade of 2007 first-round pick Olsen because newly minted veteran tight end Brandon Manumaleuna has to play as an extra blocker. The problem remains the Bears’ reluctance to trade Olsen for anything less than a second- to third-round pick despite his market value being roughly a fifth-round pick. The situation is complicated by Cutler’s friendship with Olsen, who has received favored-receiver status with the quarterback.
Chiefs Will

Hopeful Additions
A few names I’m hoping hit the open market and could be decent additions for the Chiefs (with players to drop to make room for them):
Patrick Crayton, WR Dallas (Quinten Lawrence): Crayton has done some PR/KR for Dallas, so should present the same qualities as Lawrence, plus is very experienced as a solid #3/Slot WR, familiar with Haley, and has exceptionally good hands. He’s done next to nothing in the preseason for Dallas thus far (3 catches for 24 yards through 4 games) and is getting lost in the shuffle of receivers there.
Lamar Divens, DT/NT Baltimore (Dion Gales): Hasn’t seen alot of playing time coming into the league 2 years ago as a UDFA by the Chargers, later signed by the Ravens. He’s a big boy (6’3", 343 lbs) and has seen success at the collegiate level as a strong defensive tackle that can break double teams and get after the QB. Wouldn’t mind adding any 330 lbs. bodies to a NT rotation, and while he’s pretty green, wouldn’t need to play too extensively behind Edwards and Lokey/Smith initially. Adding size at NT is paramount, in my opinion
Andrew Hartline OT Miami (Leroy Banks): Another UDFA by Green Bay in 2009, signed by Miami. He started 52 games at Central Michigan, both at RT and LT. He has long arms and good size (6’5", 300 lbs) and can compete as the #2 RT to alleviate some responsibility from Richardson as the swing tackle and/or if O’Cally’s injury is more severe than we know at this point.

Cincy Receivers
No matter how it turns out, the Bengals will be cutting some intriguing WRs. Right now, it looks like Jerome Simpson, Matt Jones, Desmond Briscoe, and Maurice Purify are all battling for one roster spot.
Obviously I’m biased, but I think it would be a great move to bring in Briscoe and groom him to be Chambers’ future replacement. I’m guessing Jones’ love for the booger sugar would prevent him from being a part of the “Right 53.” Don’t know much about Purify (except that he was unstoppable against us when he was at Nebraska) or Simpson.

as a Lawrence native, I don't want Briscoe
He had some playmaking ability, but he’s just not dependable. Too many off the field problems.
by LTownChiefsFan on Sep 2, 2010 3:40 PM CDT up reply actions
Purify is another WR with the route runnung problem.
He basically thrives in a dumbed down system… you know, “Okay run to the corner of the endzone and out jump the other dude.” That’s about it…. he would be a project for sure…. he is a helluva endzone catcher though.
So you got the fax. So why didn't you add it to the resume? What do you mean? Of course martial arts training is relevant.
Haley Matt Leinhart
So, what do you think the chances of us landing Matt Leinhart are?
Buafflo Rumblings is saying these "key" guys all are fighting for a job tonight:
QB: Brian Brohm
RB: Joique Bell
RB: Chad Simpson
WR: James Hardy
OL: Sean Allen
OL: Nick Hennessey
DE: John McCargo
LB: Keith Ellison
LB: Anotonio Coleman
CB: Ashton Youboty
CB: Ellis Lankster
Id be interested in Brohm,McCargo and Youboty if they where to be cut. The Chiefs where interesest in Bell before the draft so he could be someone to keep an eye on as well.
Chiefs Will
I too am interested in Brohm... I hope he ends up getting cut.
He is a vast improvement over Palko
Go Chiefs!!!!
some Faiders should be available, if we'd want em
On the bubble: Running back Michael Bennett. Fullback Luke Lawton. Tight end John Owens. Receivers Todd Watkins, Johnnie Lee Higgins and Nick Miller. Offensive linemen Khalif Barnes, Chris Morris and Erik Pears.
Defensive linemen John Henderson, Jay Richardson and Chris Cooper. Linebackers Sam Williams, Thomas Howard, Quentin Groves, Ricky Brown, Slade Norris and Travis Goethel.
Cornerbacks Walter McFadden and Jeremy Ware. Safeties Stevie Brown, Hiram Eugene and Jerome Boyd.
Long shots: Quarterback Colt Brennan. Fullback Manase Tonga. Punter/kicker Swayze Waters. Receiver Shaun Bodiford. Offensive linemen Daniel Loper, Brandon Rodd and Alex Parsons. Defensive linemen William Joseph, Greyson Gunheim, Alex Daniels and Kellen Heard. Linebacker David Nixon. Cornerbacks Joe Porter and Joey Thomas.
this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?
Henderson huh?
and if we didn’t have such an awesome kicking duo I would want Swayze Waters, just for the name.
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
I wanted Henderson from the get go when he was a FA
if Oakland does cut him I would like to see us bring him in, he has some nastiness in him!
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
I'd be interested in LB Thomas Howard
He is a playmaker. Has a DJ style of play and I remember last year he was a key to one of our losses.
couple of LBs that could be worth a look
Travis Goethel
The 6’2, 240 pound linebacker was a three-year starter for the Sun Devils. He has been described to have good athleticism and a solid combination of size and speed. Goethel is a hard-nosed defender who is solid in zone coverage but does not have an impressive burst to the football.
Quentin Groves, 2008 2nd round pick, “sack specialist”
this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?
Jay Richardson and Thomas Howard would be interesting possibilities
Colt Brennan would be an upgrade over Palko I’d think.
Macho Harris could get cut..and or Kurt Coleman whom the Chiefs had interest in
MACHO HARRIS can count, and he knows that getting moved from cornerback, where he’d played all spring and summer, back to safety for the final week of the preseason probably was not a great omen for his continued employment with the Eagles.
Harris talked this week about the opportunity to “showcase my talent” in tonight’s preseason finale against the visiting New York Jets. Translated, that means the rest of the NFL will see the film, and if last year’s rookie starter at free safety is a victim when the Birds trim from 75 to 53 this weekend, he at least can enhance his chance of getting a job somewhere else.
Chiefs Will
forgot this about Coleman...
Could they try to sneak Coleman onto the practice squad? Possible, but unlikely. A personnel guy from an AFC team raved about Coleman after the Birds’ preseason loss in Cincinnati. Very difficult to expose him to being claimed.
Chiefs Will
Even if they 'sneeked' him onto the practice squad we could still pick him up.
I think if we do that though he has to count to our roster for the following 3 weeks.
Go Chiefs!!!!
I remember hearin his name
alot during the Eagles and Chiefs game last year. He would really be worth a look.
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
yeah I thought Macho was supposed to be pretty good
they also mention that he can play CB or safety. Id like to have a guy like him that is still fresh on the roster over a guy like Richardson (Mike). If Coleman is released I would expect us to go after him.
Chiefs Will
what position does Coleman play?
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
He is a safety
and I know we have quite a few safeties but hes someone to keep an eye on since we where interested predraft and other GMs have been praising him as well..
Chiefs Will
wouldn't hurt then
young and coachable. We would be setting ourselves up for a pretty damn good secondary!
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
Harris could be interesting
Reunite him with his former teammate Flowers.
Another name to consider
Leon Williams ILB Dallas (DaJuan Morgan): A 4th year 4th round pick by the Browns out of the U who may be losing a roster spot b/c of a 2nd year player drafted by the Cowboys. Leon played in all 16 games for Cleveland in ‘06 and ’07 and 14 games in ’08, recording his best season in ’07 with 85 tackles (63 solo) and 4 sacks. He played in the UFL in 2009 after being waived by the Browns and signed a contract with Dallas in January of this year. Leon’s addition could push Mays/Belcher at SILB with his size (6’3", 248 lbs.) and seems to fit the physical type for SILB that Haley talked about.
If the Chiefs win on MNF, I'm not changing my underwear until they lose

wouldn't he have been drafted while Romeo was there?
if so I would expect them to really take a look at him
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
That was one of the reasons I posted his details
Romeo knows the guy, seen what he can do. If he’s released by Dallas, he could get a very good look from us

yep just looked it up
he was a Crennel pick
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
Khalif Mitchell
San Francisco DT/NT: A UDFA out of East Carolina signed in ‘09 by San Fran. His size (6’5", 318 lbs.) could put him in competition at NT or DE, but could probably play both, giving him value as a multi-positional player on our roster. He played pretty successfully at East Carolina as a nose guard and DE, suffered through some injuries his last season of ‘08, (honorable All-Conference mention in ’07). Has good speed to recover and plays strong against the run. Again, with the current depth at NT and DE, he probably wouldn’t have to play much initially, but could be a good rotational guy

Corey Hilliard: Former Pats draft pick, 6’6", 300lbs… at least a solid backup according to Detroit fans
this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?
A solid backup in Detroit...
…is like a Wal-Mart greeter elsewhere.

thats was pretty good! :)
Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!
I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.
TJ Houshmanzedah
another story today about him being on the block
this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?
He'd be tempting
Though I didn’t realize he was 33. May be better to stick with the young guys, aside from Chambers.
No one is trading for him with the terrible contract they gave him.
He may be a surprise cut it the new management is not in love with him and do not want to pay the big money to keep him there.
O-Line and NT
Any solid players on the O-Line or NT should be our first priority. A replacement for Palko would make me happy as well. Seems these are the spots we didn’t address in the draft, so now is the time to snatch them up.
Traded to the Chargers...
and Sage Rosenphals was traded to the Giants.
Go Chiefs!!!!
Broncos possibly on their way to the glue factory
32 minutes ago – The Broncos seemingly most on the roster bubble: WR Brandon Stokley; RB Bruce Hall; DEs Le Kevin Smith and Jarvis Green; LBs Baraka Atkins and Kevin Alexander; DBs Syd’Quan Thompson and Alphonso Smith; OLs Eric Olsen, D’Anthony Batiste and Paul Duncan. Broncos RapidReports
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
I'd take Aphonso Smith, maybe, could be better than Daniels/Richardson?
also Eric Olsen, was the ND center for Weiss…

I dont see them cutting Olsen
but Jarvis Green, Stokley, Smith, and Thompson would all be worth a long look.
