Kansas City general manager Scot Pioli has New England history with O’Connell, but the Chiefs didn’t make a play for him last year, so perhaps they won’t this year unless they think O’Connell is better than current No. 3 quarterback Tyler Palko.

No way
He went to N.E. as the 94th pick.
In 2009 he was claimed off of waivers from Detroit and 6 days later he was traded FROM Detroit to the Jets for a 7th rounder.
He does have the size (6’6") for a Pioli type QB, but I don’t see him replacing Palko since it wouldn’t be an improvement either way.
Joe Theismann:"Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein."
that was my thought
this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?
The problem is that he'd have to start in a "new" system and we're a little over 2 weeks away.
I just don’t see them getting rid of one guy for another guy that doesn’t improve the position.
If this was the case, than they should’ve just brought back Guttierez. At least he knows the playbook.
Just my .02
Joe Theismann:"Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein."
but unless we have a final destination level incident,
he wouldn’t see the field and even if that did happen, it most likely would occur later rather than sooner in the season, thus giving him time to learn it
but unless we have a final destination level incident,
Two words: Brodie Croyle
Mr. In-and-Out
Joe Theismann:"Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein."
you're probably right
they do have a strong preference for guys who know “their way”
So, if Palko gets cut, it could be for Stull or Guiti

Well...
I hope we sign someone. With a fragile back-up…Palko is too close to starting for my comfort level.

While we're at it, Trent Green is in the booth....he can always just walk down a flight of stairs to the field :)

Well there is...

Flagged...
For actually showing his face.
The mention of his name I could deal with.

What?
You don’t care for Jeff sportin’ the Billy Dee Williams ’stache? :)

Billy Dee makes that 'stache look cool
Jeff George only makes it look redneck

He Wasn't A Bad QB
But he was never as good as all the hype. Powerful arm, but often questionable decision-making and more of a pain in the ass in the locker room than his talent merited.

Palko sucks
also i think the fact that he’s a south paw disrupts the offensive rhythm since a few things have to flip flop for him; handoffs, bootlegs, and the blocking scheme and with our injuries at RT his blindside protection is worse (even healthy O’Call isn’t as good as Albert) and thus his chance of getting sacked and/or stripped is higher. Also if he is more routinely pressured his decision making will probably go from bad to worse for fear of getting crushed. O’Connell has potential, which is more than Palko has.
Palko sucks.
I just don’t see how this guy could be any worse. There’s really nowhere to go but up in terms of our 3rd QB…
We likely won’t see O’Connel, but we need to replace Palko. I’m surprised they let Stull go. We should have at least given him a quarter or two.

couldn't have been worse than Palko
completely agree.
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
Palko has a HORRIBLE arm
It’s so boring to watch him through those lobs. I would LOVE to be a DB playing against Palko.

I Sure Hope Croyle Plays The Last 2 Quarters of the Last PreSeason Game he Needs Work Plus We Might win with Palko on the Sidelines lol….
You mean first 2, right?

there could be a lot of guys let go...
Colt McCoy (maybe), Brady Quinn, that pretty boy in Arizona, plus a bunch i don’t know…it could get interesting watching that waiver wire.
I'd rather wait for Leinart.
So you got the fax. So why didn't you add it to the resume? What do you mean? Of course martial arts training is relevant.
Agreed.
Although I’m not at all convinced he’s great, he’d be better than O’Connell.

Rather pick up Matt L as the 3rd string
Then Nick Wright has suggested trading Brodie and a 6th round to the Eagles for Vick.

I Never Thought I'd Say This
But I would take Vick over anything we have on the roster right now. He has a cannon and can help our o-line out and he gives the tuck and run option. I have two dogs I’m sick of anyway so I’m sure he could give me some pointers. I’ll tell my kids they ‘ran away’.

Palko needs to go, but...
We’ll see better opportunities.
Time to call up Vinny
Politics aside, Obama would of better been served, buying 5 "new" football teams.
Dennis Dixon
Dixon>Cassel>Brodie>Palko>O’Connell
I'd rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave
I guess you didn't actually watch Dixon play the other night, huh?

One bad pick, the other was on the WR
Preseason also. Im just saying with Cassell, you know what your gonna get. A shwaggy, at best, qb. With Dixon, the sky is limit. Way more upside. Plus with his speed, and running skills behind our mediocre O-line, he could be the next QB Eagles. Dixon could be had for cheap too

Well if that's the way we're counting it, then Cassel's only INT was on Moeaki.
I’ll admit that Cassel didn’t look very good against the Eagles… but Dixon looked awful against the Broncos.

didn't Cassel beat the Broncos last year?
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
Didn't Casshole also lose to the Broncos last year?
Politics aside, Obama would of better been served, buying 5 "new" football teams.
sure did
but he did also beat them which had never been done at Invesco field at Mile High.

He looked real good twice
against San Diego…

Was on Moeaki? He threw it behind the TE.
Politics aside, Obama would of better been served, buying 5 "new" football teams.
Yeah...
He totally should have thrown it in front of him… where the defender was.
Honestly, it looked like Cassel was trying to get it to Chambers.
And besides, it’s neither here nor there. The point was that ArrowDread said that one of Dixon’s picks was on a WR, so the same rules should apply to Cassel, right?

Actually I don't know who it was on.
Somebody ran the wrong route on that play (Chambers and Mooeaki were too close together). Cassel was throwing to Chris Chambers, which was also a bad decision because he was covered. It was a bunch of problems on that play.
5.9 y/attempt for Dixon vs 3.7 for Casshole
94 yards pass on 9 completions for Dixon vs 85 on 14 for Casshole
33 yards rushing on 3 attempts for Dixon vs 2 on 2 for Casshole
Guess you didn’t actually watch Casshole play the other night, huh?

You can't seriously be saying what I think you're saying?
Dennis Dixon is better than Cassel? I mean I’ve seen the preseason games and haven’t thought Cassell was outstanding, but come on you can’t really be thinking Dixon gives us a better chance to win?

thats pretty much
the jist of it, if this team has one white player on it they are going to fail!!!!!!
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
0 TDs, 2 INTs, 56.3% completion rate = 33.9 QB rating for Dixon
1 TD, 1 INT, 60.9% completion rate = 64.6 QB rating.
Yeah, I watched both games. Cassel undoubtedly outperformed Dixon.
What compounds all this is that Dixon managed to do all his damage in 4 (FOUR!?!) series. Yeah… Dixon looked great against that Donkey D… way better than Cassel looked against that Philly D… give me a break.

it doesnt look sexy but...
I’ve always liked O’connell when he was drafted his highlight looked real good. he has a great touch on the ball. hes almost like a matt cassel but probably lacking the muscle. but i truly think this would be a good try out if you will.
palko just gives us reps with a lefty...he wont be on this team past week 4....there will be another QB
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
