Kansas City Chiefs DB Maurice Leggett Getting Closer To A Return
On Sunday, we passed along word that Kansas City Chiefs LB Cameron Sheffield was getting back to work after suffering a neck injury against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night. Considering the scene when Sheffield originally hurt his neck, and what some of his teammates said afterward, it's an amazing accomplishment.
Now for an update on the other neck/head injury for the Chiefs: Maurice Leggett suffered a neck/head injury last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was quickly determined that he was going to be OK.
Now comes word (via Bob Gretz of CBSSports.com) that Leggett has been cleared to practice. That doesn't necessarily mean he will be practicing but he's been given the OK from the doctors.
He watched practice with his teammates last week and attended the game on Friday night but watched in street clothes.
Two scary injuries for the Chiefs and two positive outcomes.
Now I don't know about you all, but I don't want to hear the words "neck injury" associated with the Chiefs for a long, long time.

Good to hear
Leggett just had a baby too right? Neck injuries can end a career quick so I’m glad to hear he is going to be ok and can continue doing what he loves
Great news.
I’d keep them out of contact drills for as long as possible. Slowly work them back in. Just to see how they respond to movements as a precaution. Maybe by the 2nd or 3rd game for Mighty31. Hopefully he’s back by the first though.
If he comes back
can they still cut him outright or are they going to have to offer him some sort of injury settlement?
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
Since he's been cleared to practice...
What kind of injury settlement? He’s no longer (officially) injured.
I seriously doubt he gets cut.
He plays well on special teams and started in practice when Flowers was out.

the only reason I ask
is because of the Zach Thomas thing last year. I know he was still “injured” when he got the boot, but just because the Doctors clear him, maybe MoLeggs doesn’t think he is healthy and if he gets cut can try to pull a Jarrad Page.

Page isn't looking for a settlement.
He just wants a trade so he doesn’t have to play for Haley any more.

I know he doesn't want a settlement
but the whole playing injured thing and the coaching staff pressing him to play. With his injury I doubt they are doing that, and honestly I dont think he will get cut.

I hate cutting an injured player
