NFL Roster Cuts: Jarrad Page Doesn't Count For The Chiefs
In the wake of the Kansas City Chiefs announcement that they had released four players, I wrote that the Chiefs now had 76 players on the roster.
I promptly received emails from two readers explaining to me that there are 77 players listed on the roster at the Chiefs website.
Correct. There are 77 players listed, However, in the context of NFL roster cuts there are 76 players.
The Chiefs do own the rights to 77 players but only 76 are under contract.
Jarrad Page still is unsigned. Therefore, he does not count against the Chiefs roster when they're going through these roster cuts.
So, until/if he signs, he is not a factor. The only way he can force the Chiefs hand to do something is to come in and sign his tender and then he would be taking up a valuable roster spot.
If he doesn't sign by week ten he'll lose a lose a year of credit towards free agency but I don't think many expect the next CBA to increase from four to five years the threshold for free agency so Page, who is entering his fifth year, may not be affected by that (The threshold is six this year, per no salary cap season rules, which is why Page is a restricted free agent in the first place).

Page screwed the pooch
If he doesn’t act at all they will let him rot and with the pending lockout next year he won’t have played for 2 years.
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...
He'll sign before week 10, I bet.
Then the Chiefs will either cut or trade him. If they don’t he gets credit for the season. Any way you look at Page gets what he wants (out of KC).
Too much money to be lost to lose all of next season. There will be games, and Page will be on a roster.

This is past old
What average player holds out like this? I can maybe see superstars or people who earned that money. Now it seems like he’s staying out cuz he’s already gone this far. Douche!

technically
Don’t they own the rights to MORE than 77?… if you count the guys on IR
this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6 a possibility?

WoW
i say we get what we can out of a trade a pick or something maybe a descent fourth receiver
etc and dump the dead weight

You need a trading partner...
And I’m not sure Page is exactly a hot commodity right now. I’m guessing they’ll eventually release him, and he’ll end up signing with someone for less than what the Chiefs offered.
Gabril Wilson
Went on the IR today, not sure how they’re sitting with depth there but could be another possibility.

Can anyone think of a player that has done this same thing?
Someone is giving him really bad advice
I'd rather be a failure at something I love than a success at something I hate.

yeah, but only players that might be wanted by other teams
At this point I don’t care if Page and Page ever make another dollar by trying to hold another NFL team at ransom. See you guys at 7-11 next year…
and to think of the turnover that takes place at safety to begin with.
few safeties make it past 4 seasons or so in the NFL…you see guys with promise have a good or decent year, then just dont make a roster
Page is working his way towards not finding a roster other than the detroit lions, or a team run by herman edwards
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
Team Colquitt
What's the chances
Of the chiefs making a move for Brady Quinn?him and weis together again. Or the broncos releasing him. He doesn’t seem real good right now but we could leave him in the cupboard for awhile and let weis get him ready.
