Chiefs OLB Cameron Sheffield Carted Off After Helmet-To-Helmet Collision
Scary moment here at Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles game.
Rookie outside linebacker Cameron Sheffield went down on a helmet-to-helmet hit. The Chiefs tell us it was a neck injury and he's still being evaluated.
Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb hit running back Mike Bell in the flat for a three-yard gain. Sheffield came in on the play and collided with Bell's helmet.
Sheffield hit the ground after that.
Trainers came out to tend to him for 10-15 minutes before they loaded him on a stretcher and carried him out on a cart.
Just last week, the Chiefs had a similar situation with defensive back Maurice Leggett, who suffered a head/neck injury and was carted off the field. Leggett is now apparently going to be OK.

And I want to know HOW IN THE HELL...they didn't even call a penalty for that helmet to
helmet hit on McCluster that was so brutal I was amazed to see the kid get up….and then they call a half baked penalty on Flowers and stop the clock in a critical situation…..
The refs really stunk up the place tonight.

I really hope he's okay
I didn’t see him moving at all and some of the players body language didn’t look good. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
Prayers for Shef
My bold prediction for 2010....The Chiefs win the AFC west with a 9-7 record, while the Chargers fall off, Denver remains the same, and Oakland, well enough said.

Any updates on how he is doing?
Go Chiefs!!!!
Just that it's a neck injury
And he’s still being evaluated.

So no talk about movement of the limbs yet.
It sounded like he was having a pretty good game.
I hope that he has a speedy recovery, but this sounds bad.
Go Chiefs!!!!
maybe it's just the tackles Mo-leggs missed last year
but haley didn’t look nearly this worried/upset last week
I know
The camera shot made it look like Haley was about to tear up.
The way Sheffield just went limp after the hit was not a good sign. Prayers go out to him, but it doesn’t look good.
Was someone actually leading the team in prayer? Or were they just taking a knee...
and praying to themselves?

That was the time for everyone to point to the sky and say something to God....
Not after something as trivial as a punt. One of the point at the sky after everything I do guys, should have actually led the team with a real prayer…one that you can hear…you know…out loud and everything.

I thought Studebaker was leading the pray.

Pray for Cam...
It looked bad.

Agreed..
He went completely limp after he made contact, so I was hoping for a bad stinger/concussion but when the trainer held his hands on top of his chest on the way off the field I got very worried for him.

Prayers from Here for Cam!
He has really been doing well this camp and preseason, it’s scary from what we could see. I don’t mind the last minute loss nearly as much as the possibility he is seriously hurt. Puts thing in perspective…
I agree. I can't stop thinking about it when I think of the game.
It was like the game I was at when Trent took that hit and went limp. It’s something that just sticks in your head.
Run D is the key this year.

It didn't look good at all.
He went limp right away and didn’t move again that I could see. And when they were taking him away on the cart he didn’t wave or anything, the trainers were holding his hands down to keep him from moving. That isn’t a good sign.

To be fair
I think they held Leggett’s hands down too. Hopefully it ends up not being anything serious.
I'll have to take your word for it because I didn't see that game.

i almost broke my neck playing hockey years ago...
got tripped going full speed into the boards head first. despite a concussion and a bone sticking out of my shoulder from it, the first thing i did while laying on the ice was see if i could move my toes. watching shef and the lack of movement anywhere from him is really scary. u’d think he’d at least try to move something so he could to make sure he could. i’m hoping for the best but definitely keeping him in my prayers.
