Dissension and Motivation in Bolt Land

Is the GM in San Diego making the Charger's players less than 100% motivated to win? There have been several events leading up to this theory.

Think back a few years when the #1 pick in the entire draft refused publicly to sign a contract in Dago if drafted, and when drafted told them you better trade me, I won't play for the Charger's. Remember Eli Manning playing  hardball at the draft? Is Charger Land  turning into what King Carl made happen in KC? Granted the Bolt's Gm draft's better than Carl, but do we see free agents flocking to Paradise in sunny So. Cal?

Remember Marty? How unlucky can a guy be, takes his team to the AFC Champiomship Game and is soundly whipping the Patriot's, but he has a player lose his cool and cost him the game. Wait, it gets better as Marty gets fired by this GM. No loyalty at all by this GM.

Fast forward to this off seeason, 2 major coggs in the football machine on offense are not reporting for work. Granted the CBA is part of the process, but it appears the rift is bigger than that. Think about it. You get a fine young QB who shows great promise and sometimes is mentioned up with the elite QB's in the league. Now to win in this league, it has been well publisized, it's necessary to have a QB, CB, WR and LT. By not keeping these guys on the roster gives the rest of the team an idea that winning is not what the Bolt's are about.  The WR and LT could start for almost every team in the league, are both Pro Bowl caliber players and your GM sends a message to the team. Is the message he sending the one his players receive? How motivated would you be if the boss told you winning is NOT the most important thing.

Such thinking lets players develop a mindset that they need not give 100%, draw their pay and play not to get hurt. So can we expect a focused, driven to win team on Monday Night Football? Or do we see something like the last game of the season against Denver when 2 offensive weapons were benched and the Chief's got a big win? Or will we know, as the Chargers seem to start slow under Coach Norv Turner? Is the team in dissention and lacking motivation which KC can exploit to start the season and propel them to make a run? GO CHIEFS!!!!
