Chiefs/ Bucs Game Preview
Chiefs/ Bucs Game Preview
Week 2 of the preseason is upon us and the Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Bucaneers for week 2 of the preseason. The best part about this game is there's only 2 more preseason games until the season starts. For . Cassel should have more time to throw going up aginst the likes of Stylez G White both who had 6 sacks last season and a young secondary.
Last week the Chiefs Outside Linebackers were great getting pressure aginst the Atlanta Quarterbacks. If they are able to do it vs the Bucs it will leader to turnovers. Prehaps the biggest test for the Chiefs will be going up aginst the Bucs run game which was one of the worst in the league last year. The Chiefs first team looked alot like last years run defense that ranked as one of the worst in the league.
Players to look for:
Matt Cassel: Another poor performance will only solidify the fans false beliefs that Brodie Croyle should get a chance to be the starter.
Brian Waters: I still think the guy is expendable and if he continues to play poorly he should be released to send a message.
Reshard Langford: This guy looked impressive last week and is battling for a roster spot.
Donald Washington: Finally showed some of his ability last week breaking up a pass. My favorite for replacing Javier Arenas at the nickel spot.
Jeremy Horne: This guy torched the Atlanta secondary but Croyle missed him. An undrafted free agent rookie who deserves to make the team if he continues to get open.

Is this your opinion or what?
Cassel will start and play the whole season regardless of a bad pre-season performance. Waters won’t be cut…lol Washington will make the team but won’t be a starter or beat out Arenas. Gunnell won’t make the team. Langford will though.
Jamaal Charles...Enough said.
Are you serious?
Release Waters? IF, and that’s a big if, he plays really poorly, he would probably have the sense to call it quits. Besides his role as a mentor for Asamoah is invaluable. Haley has already said Washington is a safety. IF anyone replace Arenas it would be Leggett. If there’s anyone to watch it’s the RB’s the only team worse than us at stopping the run was the bucs

Waters has been wahsed up for a few years
2 years in a row he’s came into camp out of shape. Why should he make the final cut? This mentoring players is a bunch of bullshit. He sure helped the o-line suck last year didn’t he?
yeah i guess pro bowls dont count for much (he went there 2 seasons ago)
He can mentor Asamoah as he plays the same position as Asamoah is expected to play when Waters retires. He can’t mentor a whole line to play good when it had average players at best last season

Whoa....
What two years did he come into camp out of shape? Because he certainly didn’t this year. Actually I distinctly remember Haley praising him saying he was in the best shape he’s ever seen Waters in. Mentoring players is part of what will make or break a young players progression. Coaches can’t do everything unfortunately and learning the ropes from the guy next to you on the field or ahead of you on the depth chart is immensely important in developing young talent and in turn developing a winning team.

I have to agree with you on one very good point you made...
Cassel will have a ton more time to pass the ball with Jimmy Wilkerson pass rushing him because it’s going to take forever for him to get off the line and get to the QB all the way from New Orleans.

well, I'm not going to rip Billay for this post that should have been a comment on another thread
and for those who, like me, disagree with Billay on Waters and other points, please … let’s all remember that Billay, like everyone else here on AP, is welcome to erroneous opinions and is free to post those opinions
of course, the rest of AP is free to post differing opinions to this or any other post or comment, that’s what it’s all about, but I’m going to refrain from doing so here, as I think Billay might have one good point in this post on Horne, he MIGHT make the final cut if and only if he plays lights out every chance he gets in games AND practice … if not, likely off to practice squad

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Why would you want Arenas replaced??
He has only played in one game and I have heard he is making some plays in camp. I think once he gets up to NFL game speed he’s going to be a hell of a nickelback.
and here some of us were thinking Arenas or Lewis might be playing for hyears for the team ... both rookies, just drafted ...
actually, not sure how you replace a ROOKIE at a position that isn’t actually his to begin with … but gosh, I guess maybe Billay knows much more than I could ever hope to … I’m looking forward to his response

Arenas
Upamtn what do you mean this post should have been a comment on another thread? Sorry i’m fairly new to this website.
Whats the big deal? Arenas did not look good at the nickel back position but he’s going to make the team so at worse he’ll be the dime back., You people forget Washington was drafted last year and the front office raved about his abilities.
check out the reply button
it helps the comments flow and lets people know who you are talking to. I can’t speak for upamtn but the majority of these observations from you in your post would be comments in another thread. Check out the welcome guide at the top right of the page and that will help you out next time when you are going to make a fanpost.
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
I really think Arenas could be a great nickel...
He did get toasted a few times in the ATL game……but…….it was his first game. He seems to have good lateral movement that a nickel would need. I say let him play.
agree
to early to rush to conclusions on him. First preseason game in the NFL and I thought he also has good movement and will be an asset to this team.

nope still got nothing from them
I once again posted a fanshot and craig in calgary provided a link to watch the game online, so that is unfortunately going to be my route…..

And you forgot that Washington been playing safety now not a CB.

Arenas
Sure it was one preseason game but Arenas also showed what the biggest knock on him is. He doesn’t have good closing speed and he’s 5’9 he’ll get abused as a nickel.
Crap!!
O wait, wrong responce. I guess we shall have to wait and see what he can do. I for one think that he has a good shot of success in the nickel spot due to his lateral quickness. The times he got be in ATL he was not in the nickel spot, he was at LCB. at nickel he will be able to stick closely to the slot using his quickness.
Billay, you said you're new so I'll to help you here ... there is a REPLY link on each comment
if you hit that REPLY link at the bottom of a comment, your response or reply will be posted just under and to the side of that one (just like THIS comment is a reply to yours)
as for my previous comment that this “post” should have been a comment on another post, your entire post (at top, above) consists of just a few sentences … now, you or anyone has a “right” to do that, but what you don’t know is that any new post (like this) knocks another post off the “main page”
look at the list of Fanposts on the right side of the page … notice that yours isn’t at the top of the Recent Fanpost section now, other new posts have made it go down … well, your very short post knocked off one that was much longer … so, what does it take to make a really good post?
