Chiefs Training Camp: No Respiratory Problem For Derrick Johnson

If you've been following the Chiefs the last few years, then you've probably heard the rumor that Derrick Johnson has a respiratory problem and that's why he didn't play much with the Chiefs in 2009. We haven't really talked about it because we're not sure whether it's true or not.

DJ told reporters including Bob Gretz of BobGretz.comm on Monday that he has no respiratory problem.

"I’ve got to address that, I’ve heard that (he has asthma), no I have no respiratory problems," he said.

We'll defer to Gretz for the details (free) but it does clear up one of the rumors out there that we've heard.

As for DJ, he and Jovan Belcher have been battling Corey Mays and Demorrio Williams. Though it's possible the Chiefs could switch things up, they've kept each pair together during the offseason and into training camp.

So there goes one possible reason to explain DJ's lack of playing time last year...
