Chiefs RB Tervaris Johnson Is Back, Placed On IR
After the Kansas City Chiefs night practice a week and a half ago, RB Tervaris Johnson was seen being carted off the field with a wrap on his leg.
A couple of days later and the Chiefs announced that he had been waived. The technical designation was waived/injured.
Like Brad Cottam, a few weeks ago, the Chiefs technically had to waive him before he could be placed on injured reserve.
This is a procedure done in the NFL to basically stop teams from "stashing" young players on IR. So if you have a player who is not a vested veteran (less than four years of service), he must be sent to the waiver wire, pass through without anyone claiming him and then his rights are returned to the Chiefs.
So Johnson is now on IR along with Brad Cottam and Chandler Williams (from 2009).

Always wondered
Do guys on IR get their full contract salary and bonuses (those not linked to performance or playing time)? And does it count as a year of NFL under the belt towards the restricted FA/unrestricted FA limits?
Not positive
But I think they have to play in a minimum of 6 games to be considered a “season played”.
Predictions:
1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.
Good to hear
Saw him go down in training camp and although I don’t think this team necessarily needs him, I hate to see a guy lose his shot at his dream just because of an unfortunate injury.
Wishing him a good recovery and a shot to make the team next season.
isn't any guy cut right now
that is injured, probably going to come back to the squad? Can’t we get some sort of grievance filed against us for just cutting injured players?
The picture is a Chiefs pumpkin, yeah that is right a Chiefs pumpkin.
Good news for Tevaris
And we must be stacking for a blowout year in 2011. We will need 100 roster spots as we head in to camp next year. As they say. Competition is good for the team and Tevaris will have a year to learn the system and how the NFL works.
I hate to hear about injuries, but at least this seems like a Win-Win for both the player and team.

"Tervaris"?
At what point do we stop making up words and pretending they are name-worthy?

Practice on 8/15
Off subject but does anyone know for sure if practice will be held outdoors on Sunday the 15th?
