"I'm confused as to why it is "betrayal" when a player decides to go to a new team(LeBron James) but when an organization cuts a player or runs him out if town it's "just business""
Might shed some light on his current situation...

Because
First and foremost, fans are fans of a team. In a secondary respect, they’re fans of the players who play for that team. But 98% of the time, fandom for a player only lasts as long as the player continues to represent the team the fan supports.
The main desire of a fan is for his team to win. If a team parts ways with a player, the fan’s concern is whether the decision helps or hurts the team’s chances of winning. Their concern isn’t the player.
If a player like LeBron decides to leave a team, he’s hurting that team’s chance to win. Since winning is what the fans care about, anything that gets in the way is a betrayal.
Players were once fans, they know how it works. But somewhere along the line, some of them start to believe that the cheers they get are for the name on the back of their jersey instead of the name on the front.

Sometimes it is the name, but the vast majority are like you say.
If George Brett had signed with another team (maybe similar to TG leaving) KC would have been devastated. I think the whole problem in THIS case is how it was handled

Was Lebron available for sign and trade?
Because if so I would classify that as betrayal. Having that option there to not leave the place where his “heart is”(so he claims) in shambles is a much classier way to go and even lines his pockets with more cash.

Yes he was but the only teams that would use that scenerio are teams without sufficent cap room... like the Mavericks.
So it wouldn’t make sense for the Heat to sign and trade with the Cavs when they could have LeBron outright for free.
Word.
Has nothing to do with the team they're going to really.
Its up to the player and if they want more money and a longer term. Chris Bosh did a sign and trade and went to Miami for picks and cash. Its the much classier way to leave the team that built its franchise around you only for you to leave, rather then leaving them high and dry.

It's being reported that there is a sign and trade between Miami and Cleveland now.
Cleveland gets like 85 1st rounders.
Word.
Lebron was an unrestricted free agent
He can sign wherever he wishes. The biggest issue is HOW he did it. I think people are forgetting exactly why they are mad haha.
NBA…where a whole city gets severely punched in the gut on primetime TV happens…
Other Arenas wish they could be like Arrowhead Stadium and when rivals think they are going to be fine on an island of Flowers, they will get hit by what feels like a Carr. Ultimately, they will never be able to eat a Berry ever again.
I don't really care how he did it
All th money from that show yesterday went to charity. Good idea IMO.
I personally feel bad for the guy. He gave so much to that town, he can’t sit around and wait for them to build the team. He wants a championship. And I think, after seeing how the cavs owner reacted, that there was more to the story that lebron is letting out.
Disgusting how cleveland is acting now.

couldn't he just talk to the owners first?
tell them he doesnt want to be there anymore etc? instead of making a huge circus out of anything and trying to distract people saying its for charity? was the whole 1 hour special really that neccessary to hear something that can be done for 5 minutes at a live press conference?

oh btw
I think lebron and the cavs are both at fault for this and shouldn’t be airing dirty laundry out in public.

When you don't even let the owner know your decesion
till 2-3 minutes before you go on air not allowing your franchise to go and get any of the other free agents that are gone now cuz you’ve been waiting for 1 person to say yes or no, I think you get everything you deserve.
“Chris Broussard said on ESPN Friday that a big reason that LeBron James didn’t sign with the Bulls is that they didn’t offer enough perks for LeBron’s family and friends.”
That statement says it all. He’s not about winning just playing w his friends and scammin on Miami tail!
Just bought
a Lebron $99 Fathead for the new price of $17.41 the birth year of Benedict Arnold
If you will it dude....It is no dream - Jeffery Lebowski
Page's situation can't be compared to Lebron's.
James is a Superstar in the NBA. Page is a so so CB who played on some really shitty defenses for the lowly Chiefs. Not to mention the fact that he is just coming off of an injury that kept him out of most of last season. He needs to be fighting to keep his spot and play well so he can get a nice payday next year instead of jeopardizing his career to get a new contract now.
