Chiefs Rookie Cameron Sheffield Is No Dez Bryant
If you watched SportsCenter at any point in the last few weeks, you probably noticed the recent Dez Bryant mini-drama.
One of the Cowboys veterans told Bryant to carry his pads back to the locker room from the practice field. It's customary for rookies to go through this type of harmless "hazing".
What did Dez say?
"I'm not doing it," Bryant said. "I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player's pads."
And the mini-drama ensued.
So how did Chiefs rookie Cameron Sheffield react when he was asked to carry a veteran's helmet?
Find out after the jump.
He carried an extra helmet.

High ankle sprain, no less
Those are the ones that linger.
The Chiefs will see a return to respectability in 2010, emerging as the front runner in the AFC West! ....And I'll quantify that however I choose. Ahem.
LOL, Karma?

What a trooper...
I bet he would of gave the player a piggy back ride to the locker room if asked.
I'm an ideas man Michael. I think I proved that with "F#@k Mountain".
Looks like..
Belcher?
Time to take back the AFC West
Go Chiefs

Although Belchers and UDFA second year backup so it would seem more likely that squashed number is a 0.

Who's pads did he carry?
Looks like a 50… Vrabel? That would seem most likely.

Whos the sponsor on the patch?
I noticed the cowboys have at&t… I hope these corporations don’t try to snake any further than training camp patches. I know it would never happen, but look how ridiculous in soccer uniforms are! lets go SAMSUNG… or Chelsea…or whatever you call yourselves

All that setup just for
“He carried an extra helmet” after the jump???
LOL! Sir, I like your style.
Predictions:
1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.
1st off the Dez Bryant issue was blown way out of proportion by ESPN not Dez
2nd the “veteran” who demanded he carried his pads was freaking Roy suck ass Williams a man who has earned NO respect on that team much less the NFL so good for Dez to tell that punk ass, never was, soon to be backup carry your own damn pads.
Well
It would be a bit awkward carrying the pads of the guy whose job you’re going to take in training camp.
The roles probably should have been reversed between Williams and Bryant.
This space for rent.
Maybe... but maybe not.
What if Berry refused to carry McGraw’s pads?
When you’re a rookie, things are the way they are. Refusing to acknowledge that shows that you think you’re above it all to a certain extent (although I agree that the whole incident was overblown).
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.
A veteran is a veteran, and a rookie is a rookie. Period.

I think
That this shows in part the difference between our organization and the Cowboys organization. We actually have locker room leaders that will set a guy straight. The Cowboys don’t have anyone who commands the respect of Vrabel or Waters or Jones.

Maybe it has more to do with drafting guys that aren't primadonnas?

I like to think
it’s a healthy mix of both.
I like what this team is doing.

That may very well be the case also
Good point. And those guys who aren’t prima donnas turn into positive locker room guys, who have a good influence on young players, who become good locker room guys, who then have a good influence on young players…
You can see how the cycle could work either way.
It makes me even more glad we put such a heavy emphasis on respect and character in the draft.

I always wondered what would happen to a rook who refused to do his chores
Keep an eye on the Cowboys practices. Something might still surprise. If not, he is setting himself up as the goat if he isn’t ‘all that’ once things heat up. These kids need to develop a longer term view of the world.
Ahhhh, Youth!
"You gonna pull them pistols...or whistle Dixie?"
Ha...ha...Dez will fit right in with the Cowboys! Dallas is the reformatory of the NFL...too bad Jones couldn't help TO or Pacman.
Opinions are like A--holes, everyones got one.
