Critcal Mass and funk night tonight

Tomorrow, come see your boy. I’m dropping funk and soul 45s at the Replay Lounge on Lawrence. I’ll be on outside from 1030 to 2.

Uhm, I can't say...wouldn't be gentlemanly of me....but that's never stopped me before

The second best thing was seeing training camp start.

The third was getting home from working in St. Joe with no traffic.

victory

After reading the last comment about finally getting a job I feel a litte bit spoiled writing mine…. but
I finally invested in a good cell phone and I am now able to access ap at work, on the road, etc. Even better, I discovered yesterday that I can get 610 radio on this badboy. That’s huge since I live in upstate ny!!! I love it…chiefs all day long. Although I was sad to hear the basketball program going when traIning camp is on.

Loving my chiefs access in ny. Wish I could hit up ab with you guys to get the free grub!

First girl of our 4 kids…..so we are thrilled.

Oh...Cowboy's victory got me thinking...

One of my old army buddies came home from Afghanistan for the birth of his baby girl. I finally got to go see him yesterday.

It was one of those deals where he almost didn’t make it back because on the helicopter flight to the air base they got shot down 30 mi from anything. The Eight Americans had four small arms rifles to defend themselves. My friend called in air strikes for 2 hours till a search and rescue could retrieve them.

He spent 2 days in the hospital arguing with the doctor that he was healthy enough to fly home stateside. (yeah right!!!). Well he convinced the doc and was let go. He made it home in time for his baby girl to be born on the 21st. Mama and baby and daddy are doing well.

He flies out tomorrow for 6 more months to end his 3rd and final deployment.

God bless our troops!

Well, the NFL Network's "NFL Total Access"

just spent about 2.5 seconds announcing Berry’s signing, and then moved on to other things.

grrrrr

Predictions:

1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.

by Dove40 on Jul 30, 2010 6:37 PM CDT reply actions

Well I've still been stuck in bed because of pnemonia (sp?)

But the docs gave me some new meds to fight it, and they seem to be working a lil bit better. I think I’ve refreshed AP over a thousand times in the last week, seriously :P

My victory was finally being able to hold food down. I gained 15 pounds after my car accident just sitting around (which is good because I was down weight anyways) but I lost 20 in the last two weeks because I’ve been throwing everything up. I ate chicken tenders last night =)

I have stomach problems

And when it gets bad, the first thing I can keep down is Georg’s Aloe Vera Liquid. It just tastes like water (unless you refrigerate, in which case it gets bitter). It’s about $30 a gallon though.

Nicley done

When I was really broke last year I took all my change in and made about 70 bucks, which isn’t bad at all considering it was just a bag. Since then I started putting it in a bucket. I’m pretty broke now, so I’ve been thinking about trading it in.

The guy that I redeemed my ticket with told me that his parents save them in the huge water jugs that hold a few gallons, and every 2 years cash them in. They usually make enough to take a trip somewhere, with like 2 or 3 grand. That’s insane.

by SoCalChief17 on Jul 30, 2010 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Its crazy how small amounts of money can add up like that.

We don’t think twice about the change for months or years and then all of a sudden it turns into some serious money!

Yeah seriously

I work as a server/cashier, and sometimes other servers have to pay me out for their food. Well there’s sometimes change, and most people just toss it or use it to make change for guests. I on the other hand just pocket it and dump it in my bucket as soon as I get home.

Thinking about moving to KC area next year.

You all think I should live on the Kansas or Missouri side? Leaning towards Missouri for the sole reason that all my family on my mother’s side is from Missouri going back to the late 1700’s(Before it was officially Missouri.)

Just curious on the pros/cons like taxes, general cost of living, etc.

by fixitquick79 on Jul 30, 2010 6:45 PM CDT up reply actions

The MO side is less expensive

there are small towns in a large circle 45 minutes out of KC downtown.
Harrisonville MO is growing pretty good and good roads into downtown.
Looks good to me anyway

For financial purposes

Live in MO and work in KS.

by Dove40 on Jul 30, 2010 6:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Any towns west/SW of kc that I should avoid or concentrate on. i prefer a smaller town vibe. I would be living in the city proper. I am not a big city guy. I like to visit them though so within 45 mins or so would be fine.

Maybe look at living someplace like Blue Springs, MO

And, I don’t know what you do for a living, but look for work in Overland Park, KS. It is worth making the drive (although the drive does suck in rush hour).

Predictions:

1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.

So maybe 1 high school communities.
Raymore/Peculiar and Harrisonville are close to the Kansas state line on the MO side with good access to Johnson County KS.
Yeah a lot of the tech is is in JoCo as we call it. Are you looking to design networks or support networks?

Ninja Ass

by Steve_Chiefs on Jul 30, 2010 7:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Whichever..

Whatever pays better and I can find a stable position.

by fixitquick79 on Jul 30, 2010 7:31 PM CDT up reply actions

Network admin is what I do.
I heard that Austin Texas is hot for tech right now

Ninja Ass

by Steve_Chiefs on Jul 30, 2010 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah.

Admin is usually more stable as far as long term employ at one place. Unless you get hired on to a company that does it as a service but that usually involves ass loads of travel. So it would probably be Admin most likely. I have experience with local and state govt in admin so that may be a possibility.

by fixitquick79 on Jul 30, 2010 7:41 PM CDT up reply actions

Banks are probably a good bet though

outside of govt jobs. I work on Wan connections,Lan and of course all the printer type issues. I love to do that. Kinda ended up in telephony support which sucks really but hey 25 years I do what I’m told

Ninja Ass

by Steve_Chiefs on Jul 30, 2010 7:50 PM CDT up reply actions

I hear that.

I hate printer support it is a huge pain. Mostly work on medium business sized stuff. Have been working at a non-profit govt supported for the last 5 years. It is OK but they may lose budget here quick and I already work under market and am the only IT in a org of over 200 employees and multiple locations. So I am super busy, but the people are cool. i just want out of Cali before the defication hits the occilation.

by fixitquick79 on Jul 30, 2010 8:04 PM CDT up reply actions

I have 8+ years in the telephony industry

And now I am opting to work grocery (I know the store manager from teenage years).

Too much stress in telephony (testing software and writing tech docs) to help create an item everyone hates. I may end up back there (or just in IT in general), but if I can work my way up into management within a year to a year and a half, I’m going that route. Personal choice, of course…feel free to disagree.

Predictions:

1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.

by Dove40 on Jul 30, 2010 8:18 PM CDT up reply actions

If you watch

I put punctuation after quotation marks, which is not the accepted format; I think it is the Eurpoean style, but it just makes more sense to me. Anyway…enough about that. I just wanted to point out that I am aware of it.

Predictions:

1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.

by Dove40 on Jul 30, 2010 8:29 PM CDT up reply actions

High stress tech isn't for everyone.

But it is what I am good at and is not all that stressful to me. I am not a person that feels stressed to a great degree even when the situation may leave others chewing their nails. Just how I am built. I just automatically double or even triple check things before I submit them or have them go live. I have had a job of some sort consistantly without more than one month without one since I was 14. I have also never been fired. So I have references going back a long time. I never have had a problem getting a job but luckily I have not had to try this market which I am sure is more difficult.

by fixitquick79 on Jul 30, 2010 8:47 PM CDT up reply actions

You didn't work for the company I worked for

If your last name wasn’t the same as the owners’ last name, there was no job security, and I made it for over eight years. Every day was walking on egg shells, and then, after eight years, I was fired like it was nothing (although I have no doubt that they are paying more now to get the quality of work I was providing).

It just sickened me on the whole industry, I guess.

Predictions:

1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.

Definition of a small town

If you have a walmart…it is not a small town…

I live in a town of 450 people….well 3 miles north of it :)…

Thats the definition I give my students….

LOL

When I was younger I lived down a 3 mile long dirt driveway in which i had to ford a creek. Then had a 45min drive to get to a town of about 200 people. From there it was 30mins to a town of 3000. If you wanted to do serious shopping you could go 2hours or so to Reno, NV. I know my small towns:)

I live in Blue Springs and an offshoot of the Little Blue River

Pre order from Walmart.com and you get a $20 eGift card

And I don’t think they deduct from your account until it’s released on the 10th. I placed my order a few days ago and it’s still not come out of my bank account. Usually WalMart.com purchases are same day transactions. Guaranteed to be at your house on release day too.

Yeah.

I don’t like how they simplified everything. I liked beating the snot out of people because they had to actually pick plays. It’s easy when people just pass, pass, pass, pass… turnover on downs.

I for one will boycott using that “Game flow” crap.

And the disappearance of the sprint button...

Making a game more casual is never a good thing… Look at Modern Warfare 2.

Regardless I bought it. Couldn’t pass up playing with a decently rated Charles, McCluster and Berry.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the sprint button loss

But I hear you can turn it on anyways so that’s what I’ll do. No gameflow for me either. I wish they didn’t change up the D pad. Don’t like that.

I think I can get used to the D-pad.

Hopefully the game turns out pretty good when we get to see the released product.

They are suppost to be making a change and allow for the old system to be used if you want.

Bad thing is I hear it probably won’t be until Sept until it’s released.

You can return your pre order, I think.

I wasn’t even going to pre order until I saw that WalMart wanted to give me free money. Not sure what good 20,000 tokens are going to even do anyways…

Can't you earn tokens in game though?

No

But I finally had the perfect season on 2010 on Wii.

Woo hoo!

Predictions:

1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.

$20 gift card is pretty freaking sweet though.

Been needing to buy a new camera for a few months… it’ll be cool to make that $80 one I’m looking at $60.

Meh,

I didn’t really care to get this at release anyway. I work days, so I wouldn’t even be able to play it until later that night. I like Madden and all… but it’s not worth hunting down first thing in the morning on a Tuesday… Halo Reach on the other hand… lol. God I’m a nerd.

And actually Reach releases the day after the Monday Night game... Sept. 14th.

I’ll already be taking it off, so I’ll be fighting off a hangover with the final installment of Halo by Bungie. It looks pretty freaking sweet so far.

by Red N Gold Beast on Jul 30, 2010 7:00 PM CDT up reply actions

Didnt they say H3 would be the final installment?

I don’t care either way, I’m just happy there’s another one coming out. I haven’t been following this one at all though, I’m just pumped for it. I forgot it was coming out that soon actually.

by SoCalChief17 on Jul 30, 2010 7:08 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't think so... but this is definitely the last Halo that will be made by Bungie...

No doubt another developer will jump on that cash cow, but Bungie is a solid developer… I think they’re going out with a bang with this one.

It’s freaking sweet looking. I tried out the beta. MP was solid, and they still had a few months to iron it out. Apparently there is going to be a “Forge World” that’s like a huge sandbox map that allows you to customize and build arenas to play in. The campaign looks cool too. Co-op Spartans. Better enemy AI. The number of rendering points for characters doubled compared to H3.. meaning the graphics are better. Check out XBox’s video marketplace and download some of the videos for it. It really looks good.

My long, drawn-out predictions that no one cares about, nor will bother to remember:

1. Todd Haley will still be the Chiefs Head Coach up to the 2011 season.
2. Clancy Pendergast won't make it to the 2010 season and was never intended to. Last-minute hire for a position that needed to be filled.
3. Todd Haley will not be the OC at the start of the 2010 season.
