Update: Eric Berry Signs Contract, Headed To Chiefs Training Camp
Update: Berry is saying that the deal is done, per his Twitter account.
With no official word of a contract or really any other news, Kansas City Chiefs rookie safety Eric Berry just tweeted out this:
Bout to head to st. Joe!!!
He's referring to St. Joseph, MO, of course, the home of the Kansas City Chiefs training camp this year.
Does this mean Berry is close to a contract? Probably so but it isn't definite. But why else would you head to training camp unless you were about to sign a contract and get on the field?
If Eric Berry makes it in time for today's 1:50 PM practice, all of the Chiefs' rookies will be in camp on time.
Looks like BBQ for Joel....Sorry Nick Wright.

Hopefully...
He pulls his big head out of his ass and gets to camp.. Berry and Page would be nice looking in that defensive backfield.
Yeah, I am pretty pissed...
I was looking forward to seeing them blasting fools
Hey...How'd everyone get in my room?
Me too
Im not really sure what Page thinks he as leverage at this point. But man I’m happy we got Berry in for the first day of camp. HUGE!!!
Calm down guys
He tweeted that he’s headed to St. Joe.
He never said he’s signed. He may just be preparing and it might not be done yet.

way to go Pioli and Haley and everyone involved with getting these guys to camp on time!
This is our year.
He wants to be with and around the team. I don't think the contract is his main concern.
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...
Like this kid
I really like his attitude. He really wants to be in KC and work hard. Isn’t that refreshing.
Hard to beat Jack Stack's
Just ate at Jack Stack’s in Martin City 2 days ago. That’s where I would go, Joel.
I agree with you...
…however it’s generally best to avoid the BBQ debate here on AP. Not that I have anything against it, but most of our fellow fans tend to prefer the lunch counter BBQ style vice the sitdown service you get at Jack Stack.
I was just at Jack Stack in OP last weekend
They meat was good, sauce was okay. OK Joe’s still better IMHO.
The hickory pit beans at Jack Stack are the best I have tasted in my life!

Smokehouse BBQ
best BBQ baked beans in KC…at least, from what I have tried!
Its sad that the rest of their BBQ isnt all that great.

Jack Stack's beans are the only ones I eat.
I’m not a big bean person though, so I eat what I like.
OP location is okay...
I only go to that one if I have to for some strange reason. Really, always go to Martin City if you can help it at all. The original will always be the best.
OK Joes is okay/good I guess (I’ve only gotten to eat there twice I think, having been out of KC for 7 years now), I certainly have no complaints about it. I just prefer Jack Stack, and it’s a family thing as well.
I work in OP
Only reason I went there. I’ll have to try the real thing! ;)
by LTownChiefsFan on Jul 30, 2010 12:43 PM CDT up reply actions
Good call.
As I’ve mentioned a couple times in previous discussions, about half my family works for the company at the Catering/Fine Dining facility there in Martin City. I myself used to as well. So pretty much every time I’m back in town we hit that one up again.
The Martin City Jack Stack
Is light-years ahead of the other locations, and probably my favorite restaurant in the city.
I’m on both sides of this debate. Okie Joe’s is my fav BBQ place for everyday eats, but the MC JS is one of the best meals you’ll ever eat. Tremendous, even if it is a little pricey ‘for BBQ.’

First-round draft pick Eric Berry just tweeted that he has a contract agreement with the Chiefs and he’s on his way to training camp in St. Joseph.

I couldn't disagree more.
Doesn’t this Berry punk know it’s his duty as a high draft pick to hold out until training camp is almost over as a way of sticking it to the NCAA somehow? Now who will put the institution of college football in its place by using it as a springboard to ridiculously incredible fortune?

Most of the time you can tell a post is sarcastic without it, but people have gotten so used to it that they just assume that every single joke or snide remark should be taken 100% seriously if it isn’t used. It’s time to wean AP off of the sarcasm font, imo.
