Kansas City Chiefs Rookie Eric Berry Close To A Deal, Says Schefter

Photo

Kansas City Chiefs 2010 draft pick Eric Berry and the team are apparently close to a deal, according to a very solid source: Adam Schefter.

"Whispers: Eric Berry getting closer to a deal...Suh is not...Trent Williams deal not far away....and these deals will really pick up now."

Trent Williams, the fourth overall pick, is expected to have a deal done soon, which means Berry won't be far behind.. Williams' deal will be the ceiling for Berry's deal.

One hold up may be that last year's fifth overall pick was QB Mark Sanchez. QBs generally get better contracts because of the importance of the position, so if Eric Berry's agent is trying to significantly top last year's fifth pick, there may be some tough negotiation days ahead.

Once these higher draft picks start signing, expect a domino effect. NFL agents are waiting around to see what the guy got before their pick before setting their price.

As always, stick around for Eric Berry signing updates. The fate of radio versus blogs is in the balance

If he says he’s close I believe him. This is gonna be exciting.

Wow... what is up with Tebow's contract?

Does he have some major performance bonuses in his contract?

Denver Broncos – Tim Tebow, QB, Florida – Agreed to Terms (5-years, $11.25M/$33M max; $8.7M guaranteed)

Go Chiefs!!!!

They said he'd have to make Peyton look like a fool to hit 33 Max

Superbowl, probowl, starting status, playing time, passing TDs, etc. There’s no way in hell a QB just starting off would hit those numbers.

just today we’ve been told that Eric Berry is close to signing, then that he’s NOT close to signing, and now that he is close to signing …

CLOSE!!

Thats Right! Close only counts when your shaving your balls, horseshoes, hand grenades, jerking your pecker, and taking a dump!!! Berry better have his ass signed by Friday!

Dunno about taking a dump

I mean, I’d hate to be close – but still miss and leave brownstain all over the rim or my shoes.

Just not my style, tbh.

Chiefs - back in the playoffs in 2011.

Im not that bummed about him not getting there quite on time...

Not stressed at all…

He will get there, and he is a natural playmaker and a good student of the game. He will be just fine.
