Chiefs, Javier Arenas Agree On Four-Year Contract
The Chiefs and second round pick Javier Arenas have struck a deal. Two weeks after hiring a new agent, Arenas' reps worked out a four-year contract with the Chiefs, according to Aaron Wilson of National Football Post.
All the other Chiefs draft picks have been getting guaranteed roster bonuses instead of signing bonuses (which doesn't make a difference to you or the player) so we'll be checking to see if Arenas did as well.
Once he puts pen-to-paper, Arenas will mark the fourth Chiefs draft pick that has officially signed though at least two others shouldn't be far behind.
First to sign was fifth round pick Kendrick Lewis, then fifth round pick Cameron Sheffield followed by third round pick Tony Moeaki.
The Chiefs are reportedly close to announcing the signing of third round pick Jon Asamoah and the players directly before and after second round pick Dexter McCluster have signed so he should be coming along shortly.
And then there's Eric Berry.

Glad to hear it
I really like Arenas and his attitude. I think he’ll be a nice piece of the D for years to come.
good news. Ready for camp! Finally the end to our issues with the nickel corner

YAY

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
no kidding...really hoping we hear Mccluster/Asa in the next few hours
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
Take it for what it's worth
I read on another board from someone (who’s been pretty reliable in the past) that talked to Clark that Clark expects Berry to be signed by Thursday or Friday based off his agent’s history. He’s worried about getting McCluster signed because his agent has a reputation for dragging things out.
well that would be a welcome surprise to have berry signed by the weekend.
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
I dont think agents history is very reliable this year
The first rounders are taking alot longer to get signed this year……I dont think its berry or his agents fault just taking longer than normal……but who knows maybe berry will be a trend setter and take a little less money to get into camp on time
HEY........quit playing with your dingy
Hey Joel, how are you feeling about your bet with Nick Wright?
Still think Berry signs before the 5th? I bet he get’s done this weekend.

Instead of the Dwayne Bowe Show
He should focus on losing the name Dwayne “Hands No Show”. I like Arenas but I hope he has that hidden speed because he just doesn’t look that fast to me in his college tapes. Now he’s coming up against bigger and faster guys. I felt like he was taken a little high
Those were the good ole days... wait I wasn't alive then
he may be quicker than he is fast as he did get to the QB AND return punts at a high level(while covering recievers) in a tough conference
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
I think Arenas will surprise some people
He’s a smart, tough player from everything I’ve seen.
yep and works hard...they say hes that guy who is always going 100 percent in practice/games at all times...I have high hopes as Im sure many do

Arenas signing
New poster. Been reader for some time. AP is the best source of Chief’s news I’ve found. I did read about Arenas’ signing on Yahoo sports first, but then came here and AP had it also. Good Job AP. You beat all other KC news sources
Welcome Honk
I used to post a lot but really only have time to read the posts now. AP is probably the #2 destination behind Google for me! Been hooked daily for about a year-and a half. Certainly beats looking around to find Chiefs news, because if there is any, it will be here!
Off season for all my teams right now...sigh! Come on football!!
Welcome Honk.
Until Sept. of last year I used to use other sites too. AP has definitely become the best place on the web for Chiefs news and fan opinions.
I look forward to seeing more of your thoughts and comments.

Welcome to AP buddy
This is pretty much the best info for chiefs football. When in doubt go to AP.

welcome honk
and enjoy, you have now passed into the realm of no turning back!
Are we the team to beat in 2010? I sure think so! Go Chiefs.
glad to see Arenas inked
Hope he comes in a finally fills the role of a dynamic returner here in KC that we’ve been missing that spark since Dante Hall left. I’m just excited to see the guy come in and compete. I think that he should compete for the starting nickel spot and the guy just wants to get his shot to compete for a roster spot.
Did I mention he likes to compete??
Eric
Needs to sign so I have a big reason to go to training camp in day 1

On a side note....
Everybody who cried we didn’t take this guy… Have a looksee… http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Terrence-Cody-deemed-too-tubby-for-Ravens-traini?urn=nfl-258518
Is JC Jesus Christ or Jamaal Charles? I think they both will be our savior.

He passed today though.
But hey, it’s not like earth shattering news that Cody didn’t pass a conditioning test.

I don't really care
I think he’s going to be great in time. In the end, he got drafted by someone else and I’m ok with who we got. If he can’t make it with the Ravens with all that talent around him, he’s likely not going to make it anywhere.
Thank God...
I think I said he’d be next before Asamoah or McCluster. I still stand behind my prediction that Berry will be suited up and in practice before August 1st as well. If news breaks of Asamoah and McCluster signing prior to camp, Berry will not be far behind. I think Pioli is doing a helluva job getting these guys knocked down one by one. We need all our boys in camp from the get-go so we can knock some dicks in the dirt on September 13th. GO CHEFS!!! Chefs? Great googly-moogly…
Things to get the Chiefs back on the winning side of football:
1. Haley resign as offensive coordinator or do the following;
a. Feed JC more
b. Take the cuffs off of Cassel and let him air it out
2. Fire Clancy "Calls" Playslikeass
McCluster is inked with Arenas
Josh Looney tweeted that both Arenas and McCluster signed their deals this afternoon. Just waiting for something official to be posted.
Good to see another four year contract
in place. Arenas is going to help this team, this year.
"The Hammer"
Asamoah
NFL.com’s transactions page shows Asamoah signing on the 22nd of July. Even if the Chiefs haven’t announced it, but it’s on the NFL’s website, wouldn’t that mean he has signed?
