Chiefs Reportedly Agree To Terms With 3rd Round Pick TE Tony Moeaki
The Chiefs have reportedly agreed to terms with third round pick Tony Moeaki, tight end out of Iowa.
I haven't seen anything from the Chiefs yet and, the best I can tell, Soren Petro of 810 WHB's The Program reported it first via Twitter.
The Chiefs are breaking the mold a bit by signing Moeaki. The two picks before and after him have yet to sign. I guess you could say they're trend setters.
We'll be keeping an eye on what his contract looks like as well. The Chiefs have done four-year contracts with Kendrick Lewis and Cameron Sheffield, the only other two picks signed, and have given them roster bonuses instead of signing bonuses.
Moeaki is expected to compete with Leonard Pope for the starting tight end job.
If and when the Chiefs confirm this, it will make three draft picks under contract.

Breaking the mold...
The Chiefs have to, we have to get all these guys done so they can get to training camp on time, can’t wait on the other teams to get their sh!t together.
I want to see Asamoah signed soon as well
good to get him in there working along side the big guys!

"trend setters"
Ha! I nearly spewed my pop on that one.
10 + wins in 2010. Chiefs SHOCK the NFL!!! Mark it down.
I'm Just
Glad that we’re getting this done. This is why we get character guys. Moeaki clearly is more concerned with getting into camp and playing some football then haggling over dollar signs. This reminds me of the years that Tony Gonzales took a pay cut to stay on the roster with the Chiefs. Call me crazy, and I’m sure some of you will, but this kid is already special. Now let’s get the rest of the guys into camp and get ready for preseason to start up.

No love for Brad Cottam?
I’m not saying he’s the favorite, but I think he could compete for the starting job. He looked really good against Cleveland before he got hurt.
Great to see Moeaki signed though. He’s definitely on of the new additions I’m most excited about.
I agree MtHammer
I think Cottam will be the suprise player of the year for KC. On the other hand Im glad we have Moeaki just in case
My hope is...
Moeaki and Cottom can both stay healthy. So they can battle it out for real.

I'd like to see some double TE sets with both of those guys on the field
Both look like fluid route runners/pass catchers, and both (reportedly) are good blockers. What can the opposing D assume the play is going to be with Chambers, Moeaki, Cottom and Bowe out there, with McCluster or Charles in the backfield?
Predictions:
This year will be better
Couldn't disagree more.
I would rather see Dex on the field every chance we can get. Would you rather have a big time game breaker catching the ball or one of two below average tight ends?
(below average now I mean – not to say they might not both develop)

Right, obviously the assumption is that both of them develop into good recievers and blockers
the point being that a formation like that (with the right personnel) would be great for either running or passing plays. You’d have a full blocking set for the running play, or a potential of 5 good receivers available for passing plays. It would be great for creating mismatches.

This year will be better
This is what I got for Moeaki
Granted its not from KCCHIEFS.com
Tony Moeaki (4-years, $2.47M; ~$680,000 guaranteed)
Go Chiefs!!!!
