AFC West Wide Receivers True Rank

There has been a lot of debate going on in regard to Nick Cast's post.

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/7/21/1581103/best-offensive-units-in-the-afc

There are a lot of things that could be biased or held to debate.  The number one thing that I (and a lot of people) pointed out to be completely wrong is his WR analysis.  He rated San Diego as number 1, Denver and Oakland with a tie for second, and Kansas City for last.  Is that honestly true?  So instead of basing my analysis off of last season or judging highly of rookies I went with TOTAL numbers.  I'll let the stats speak for themselves but I have an interesting ranking system.

Each team receives:

5 points per 10 receptions (rounded up)

10 points per 500 yards (rounded up)

1 point per Touchdown

- 5 points per year after 5 years in the league (age factor)

+5 points per rookie (They will help but how much?)

*note: The non-rookies with zero catches are treated like rookies.

I know this rating system has flaws but I think is a better judge than 1 season or rookie talent.

Ok, you have a pretty good mix of Vet's and younger talent.  Bronco's need their rookies to pan out.  Here are how many points the Broncos get based off of my rating system above:  756 points

The Raiders have no WR that has been in the league longer than 3 years.  Yet, they are better than the Chiefs and tied with the Broncos.  Here is how many points the Raiders receive:  214 points

The Chiefs have a good mix of vets and rookies as well as the Broncos.  They need more consistent play out of Bowe and the other WR's to step up.  Here are the points that the Chiefs receive: 811 points

The Chargers better find a solution to their WR problem. They need Jackson period.  They have some pretty good young talent and a lot of rookies.  Here are the Chargers points:  377 points

When you base a team off of potential, last season, age, and stats there are just a lot of things to take in and consider.  This was mainly done to base the best from a production stand point.  You may not agree with this ranking system but I find it to be fair without putting too much emphasis on unproven talent.

1.  Chiefs: 811 points

2. Broncos:  756 points

3. Chargers:  377 points

4. Raiders:  214 points
