Rich Gannon Working With Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe
Last week we heard Dwayne Bowe attended Larry Fitzgerald's camp with a few current and former NFL players.
One of the former players was Cris Carter, who at the time said he had talked to the Chiefs about working with Bowe.
"I don’t get mad about kids coming or not coming," Carter said last week. "Larry is the only one who invited me. Larry is the only one but some people in Kansas City as far as their administration kind of knew I was going to be here. We kind of let them know that I would be here for [receiver Dwayne] Bowe."
Turns out Carter isn't the only one working with Bowe.
Remember a guy by the name of Rich Gannon?
Rich Gannon spent the past two weeks working with Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe and today he's doing same with [Larry Fitzgerald].
Sounds like the Chiefs understand the necessity of Bowe stepping his game up in 2010.

Whoa Dwayne Bowe is getting an opportunity
To do some serious work with some top flight current and former NFL talent. If he takes it to heart he could be poised for a real breakout season.

Bowe
Was getting a opportunity when he was picked.
3 years in the making, and it still hasn’t clicked.
Yet he still hasn’t proved his self for some silly reason.
Lets just hope he proves himself this coming season:P

Nice poem. Bowe had 2000 yards his first two seasons. I think he clicked pretty good. But maybe I miss understood. Last year he was lazy and fat. I,m not down with that. I guess I’m just trying to say I think Bowe will change his ways.
The most important thing you can do in life is help other people.
It could also undermine our coaching staff.
I can just see a guy like Bowe after some instruction from the coaches, saying “but, Chris Carter says I should do it like this” and “but Rich Gannon told me not to do that”.

Just adding Bowes personality to the future coaching endeavors....and that was
my first thought.

Awesome!
Raiders didnt want Gannon working with Russell but Ill sure as hell take him working with Bowe or even Cassel! Welcome back from the dark side Rich!
Ah, that's right
Forgot all about the Russell fiasco.

I wouldn't mind having Gannon and Green
padding around Arrowhead to mentor these young players. While we’re at it, where’s Will Shields? He can teach Asamoah anything he knows about playing guard.
funny, but I can't recall Pioli allowing former players around the stadium LAST year ...
… is there something new going on, a new program that Pioli announced and I missed it? ex-Chiefs allowed inside the sacred halls of One Arrowhead Drive? has Pioli had an epiphany of such epic proportions that would allow such a thing to happen?
one can only hope …

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
I think.......
Last year was all about Pioli needed to instill fear an a since of who’s the boss an this is how it’s gonna be. But now that everyone knows the deal the fear is gone an it’s more about united. From front office to the field.

I see it as more of:
People were knocking on the door to come in, but Pioli had a messy house to clean up. He told them to come back after the dirty laundry was shoved under the bed, the dishes were done and the trash was taken out.

Let him work with all of them for that matter. But he wouldn't.

"Sounds like the Chiefs understand the necessity of Bowe stepping his game up in 2010."
Very true.
But, the real question is…does Dwayne Bowe understand the importance of stepping up his game? Outward appearances would say “yes”. It won’t mean a thing until he gets onto the field, though.
I think we’ll finally find out who the “real” Dwayne Bowe is this year. And to be honest…I can see it going either way.
10 + wins in 2010. Chiefs SHOCK the NFL!!! Mark it down.
If Bowe still stinks it up after all the help he's gotten..
We’ll know for sure if he’s worth keeping after this year.

Seem like the players are being give the tools to succeed.
-Kurt Warner speaks to the entire team.
-Dwayne Bowe works out with Larry Figtzgerald.
-Michael Irvin and Chris Carter work with Dwayne Bowe.
-Rich Gannon spends 2 weeks working with Dwayne Bowe.
-Rodney Harrison to attend training camp to work with Eric Berry.
These are excellent signs. Some may call be highly optimistic but, all the arrows are pointing up and I think the Chiefs are in store for a 3-1 1st qtr and 9 win season.

Sounds like the Chiefs understand the need for a veteran presence on a young team.
I've been rapping for about seveteen years okay? I don't write my stuff anymore I just kick it from my head you know what I'm sayin? I can do that. No disrespect but that's how I am.
Man, I love hearing this kind of stuff.
I have always liked Rich Gannon anyway, but hearing he is working with DBo is great. I don’t think Gannon should have ever been let go in favor of of Elvis Upchuc. I ran into Rich Gannon one time in K.C. He was coming across the parking lot going into a restaurant as I was leaving. I was so flabbergasted that I just said “Hi, Howzit goin’” and continued on.
With all these players hanging around the Chiefs, some good is going to have to rub off. The Chiefs administration is definitely pulling out the stops to give our players every chance to succeed. Geaux, Chiefs.
"The Hammer"
Shouldn't Gannon be working with Cassel?
… and Bowe working on a report with Cassel. Sure its great that he is working with high caliber NFL talent, but it just seems like he needs to get timing and communication with Cassel down.
Go Chiefs!!!!
He (Bowe) already worked with receivers. Gannon
is an old hand and can tell DBo a lot about things from the quarterback’s perspective. Matt Cassel has already hung out with Kurt Warner. Besides, Cassel’s basics are good, he just needs some help on offense. Such as from the o-line (improved), receivers (improved), and running backs (should be super). So it is better for Gannon to be working with Bowe.
"The Hammer"
So I'm assuming what you are saying is?
Gannon can give him ques that help a quarterback out… perfecting route running etc.? If this is something that he can take back to Cassel and improve their report… that is great. As of right now I’m not to excited about it..
Kurt Warner seemed to be there more for motivation than to help Cassel out… especially since it was a one day affair. I completely agree that he needs upgrades… and someone that can hold onto the ball when it is thrown to him.
Go Chiefs!!!!
Yeah, I am just sayin' it never hurts to
hear those things from the quarterback about body positioning for throws, etc.
"The Hammer"
Maybe hearing things in a different way will help... IDK
Personally I see Bowe having a harder time stepping up this year(in comparison to his 1st two years). than Cassel.
Something needs to click, and hopefully he hears it at Fitzgerald’s camp.
Go Chiefs!!!!
It really does help
of course, I never played at that level. But I did play football long enough to know one thing…
You can never learn enough.
As a receiver, you and your QB need to be on the same page. The first step to doing that is understanding a quarterbacks perspective. Once Bowe is able to learn how a quarterbacks mind works, THEN he goes into training camp with a better understanding of how Cassel is thinking. At that point, Cassel and Bowe can really start working together.
The point is, when Bowe is out there running an option route, him and Cassel need to be on the same page as to where Bowe is going based on what the defense is giving them. Or if a route fails/play breaks down, both of them should know what the other is thinking, and where the ball needs to/is going to be thrown.
Until training camp comes around..
it’s not a bad idea to work out with as many different people as possible. It helps you find your own personal rhythm. You take that into training camp and find out how to make it work with your starter’s rhythm. Cassel doesn’t have to be doing this as much because he naturally gets more work in than a receiver does. He doesn’t split as many snaps and plays so he get’s more opportunity to work out his rhythm.
The key will now be for them to get in sync with one another. That’s what makes a pass-catch team like Manning-Wayne work so well. They work out by themselves and then put it together.

I'm not saying its a bad idea... I'm just not as hyped up about it as others seem to be.
Thanks for the opinion citadel… I hadn’t thought about the times that I take away from work/school. Later things just start clicking… so I can see how taking a break from time with Cassel could help.
Go Chiefs!!!!
Bowe needs to catch the damn ball. No matter who's throwing it.
10 + wins in 2010. Chiefs SHOCK the NFL!!! Mark it down.
It's a concentration and focus issue with bowe
Hopefully all this work in the offseason will instill it better in his mind.
Other Arenas wish they could be like Arrowhead Stadium and when rivals think they are going to be fine on an island of Flowers, they will get hit by what feels like a Carr. Ultimately, they will never be able to eat a Berry ever again.
Gannon = what might have been.
Rich is great, but easily the worst personnel decision of the Peterson era. If he starts at QB there’s no doubt in my mind the Chiefs go to the Superbowl.
Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.
It ranks right up there with passing up Dan Marino
in the draft to draft Todd Blackledge (who?) instead.

Repeating history with Huard/Green comes in at 2nd.

Sometimes I think Bowe just needs the attention
I imagine he’s going to need constant prodding throughout his NFL career. If he gets that he can be one of the best, but if he’s relied upon to self motivate, he’ll slip. Gotta be annoying for the Coaches & GM.
Predictions:
This year will be better
Hey, some guys just have to be poked and
prodded to get the best out of them. After a great rookie season and an adequate year number two, Bowe really fell down the stairs last year. He needs picked up, dusted off, and shoved back out on the stairs.
"The Hammer"
I assume Gannon was paid for his time
Is that something the Chiefs organization would pay for or do you think Bowe floated the bill? Personally, it seems to me like the front office would seek out these kinds of opportunities for their players but I’d love to hear it was all DBowe.
i'm pretty sure it's the Chiefs paying for all this added help
Bowe wouldn’t even buy his own diuretics … he borrowed his grandma’s!!
ba da bump tsssh lol :D

I'm sure that Gannon's motivation is any thing he can do to help the Chiefs beat
the Raiders. Despite his success there, he has reason to hate them as much as we do, and more so.

They treated him like garbage. To this day, Rich Gannon is not allowed on
Raider property. Not even to take a leak.

Seems to me that he was in attendance at the Fitzgerald's camp.
This week Gannon is with Fitzgerald working with him…
Go Chiefs!!!!
Let's hope...
Bowe is trying to become a great Chief and not thinking he is auditioning for a job at Arizona to replace Boldin next year.
