Former Jayhawk, Current Charger Darrell Stuckey Thanks The Chiefs

Stay connected for news and updates

As I told you yesterday I attended the SportKC PROPS (People Recognizing Outstanding People of Sports) event on Wednesday evening at the Midland Theater in downtown Kansas City. I'll have a full rundown of the event at some point today but I wanted to share one story from former Jayhawks safety Darrell Stuckey.

Stuckey was awarded the Co-Collegiate Male Athlete Of The Year award and thanked the Chiefs during his speech.

Stuckey, a Kansas City, KS native, talked about growing up the area and playing football then moving onto Lawrence, KS to play college football.

He said, "Anything great that I've done, has happened in Kansas City. So, I would like to thank Mark [Donovan, Chiefs COO] for getting that Monday Night Football game scheduled so I can play my first NFL game back in front of the hometown fans."

I'm not sure Kansas City, or even all the Jayhawks, will be cheering for Stuckey that night but it was a cool statement because he really does appreciate Kansas City.

I guess we'll see you Sept. 13, Darrell.
