Chargers WR Vincent Jackson Expects To Miss Monday Night Opener Against Chiefs
The Chargers are in a bit of trouble with a couple of their younger -- and very good -- players. Left tackle Marcus McNeill, a restricted free agent, has yet to sign his tender and reportedly is willing to hold out into the season absent a long-term contract. Likewise, receiver Vincent Jackson is a restricted free agent, with an unsigned tender, who is reportedly willing to sit out the season if he doesn't get a new contract.
Except with Jackson, he's also bracing for a suspension of the four-game variety, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Florio reports that "a team with interest in Jackson has learned that he's expecting a four-game suspension from the league office."
Jackson, like Jared Allen, has two DUIs on his record. Allen received a four-game suspension that was later reduced to two games.
Even if Jackson gets the same treatment as Allen, he'll miss week one against the Chiefs which, for Kansas City, is very good news considering he's far and away their best receiver on a pass-happy offense.

Good..
I’m just worried about another Gaffney or Austin to come to the spotlight. Even though our secondary is solid that is my worst nightmare…
Jamaal Charles...Enough said.
we have berry now
Berry can cheat towards any reciever that Carr is on and have Brandon Flowers on Floyd. Floyd is no where near the talent that Jackson is. I think this would work.
Smile, its the second best things you can do with your lips!
according to Kevin Acee, he expects McNeil to possibly hold out until week 10
just so he can earn his UFA status.
I think McNeill will get a deal done
They’ve got to do Antonio Gates first but then it will be McNeill.
I think ultimately it gets done because he’s a good team guy. Vincent Jackson is a different story. Not saying he’s a bad guy but he’s got a lot of issues right about now.
I’d be pretty surprised if Jackson netted a first round pick.

I thought McNeill said he was out.
And AJ Smith said he was going to make due without him and Jackson.
That doesn’t sound like “good team guy” or that either side is working toward a resolution any more. It sounds more like what happened with Jared Allen and Carl Peterson where there was enough animosity that one side just washed their hands of the other and wouldn’t deal no matter what.
Except AJ seems to have that effect on a lot of people …
I'd rather beat the Chargers with their best players in
than give them an excuse as to why they lost.
*My opinions are subject to change.
I'm with you, CMatthews....
I want to beat the Chargers because we’re a better team. Not because they’re missing a key player.
10 + wins in 2010. Chiefs SHOCK the NFL!!! Mark it down.
Well then, you better be prepared to keep losing to them for a while.
Have you forgotten what they did to us twice last season?
I don’t care how we do it. I’m ready to see the Chiefs stomp Philip Rivers’ guts out and send the Chargers crying to their mommies.

Personally ...
I want to do to Philip Rivers the same thing we did to Ryan Leaf.
I want him to come in here, throw 1 for 15 with a handful of fumbles and INTs and implode on his teammates. I want to break him.
i dont care how we beat the chargers
And who plays. This game is the key to us starting 3-1 in the 1st qtr of the season.

I really could care less...
what I really want to see is our D-line and LBs choke-slam Rivers a couple times because he’s the douchiest douche that has ever existed. Jackson’s presence is superfluous.
A win is a win – if you can’t put your best 22 on the field then that’s your own damn fault. No sympathy for the Chargers – their time has come and gone.

I'm excited.
Really, this is good news. The only thing I’m concerned about…people are talking about trading for Jackson now. I don’t know what they’re goin to get for him, but I don’t like the idea of the Chargers having multiple picks.
chargers need to pay this guy he been rivers second biggest target
he seems to make the big plays when needed and this guy is at the peak of his career pay the man or send him to the chiefs will pay him cuz bowe is making me sick with those lazy hands of his.
ps : prove me wrong bowe please with a cherry on top.
pss: clark hunt please make a bid on vincent jackson.
FOUR F'S FIND UM FEEL UM FUGUM FORGET UM.
Agreed on the Jackson bid
We have a little loose change to spare…….and we definitely could use the help at wideout.

No way
Pioli would never go after Jackson. He doesn’t like players with jacksons attitude or selfish
Mindset.
by masonsixer on Jun 30, 2010 10:53 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions
No way the Bolts
Give up Jackson to anyone in the AFC West. That would be stupid. We got Chambers, but he was released rather than traded. No way is Jackson released within the next 3 years.
Smile, its the second best things you can do with your lips!
Yup.
Jackson is a freak of nature. I’d LOVE to see him here in KC.
isnt it a unwritten rule NOT to trade within your own division?
Flowers, Carr, Lewis, & Berry = SCARY SECONDARY
NEW ARROWHEAD = BETTER TEAM ... CHIEFS 2010 AFC WEST CHAMPS
RELEASE THE McCLUSTER BOMB!!
Maybe so but it happens (mcnabb)

Jackson their best receiver?
Even though he’s a tight end, I thought Antonio Gates is their best “receiver”.
by supersoccersteven on Jun 30, 2010 10:56 PM CDT reply actions
I specifically said receiver
To not include Gates. I would make the argument that Jackson is more important to the team than Gates.
by Joel Thorman on Jun 30, 2010 11:01 PM CDT up reply actions
Me too Joel.
w/o Jackson, nobody is stretching the field to open the middle up for Gates.
Other than Rivers, I think Jackson is the most valuable player on that offense.
by Chiefsfan1970 on Jun 30, 2010 11:04 PM CDT up reply actions
and what happened before Jackson?
was Keenan McCardell stretching the field? Or Caldwell? Or Parker?
Gates is a beast because he is.
Was Tony Gonazlez amazing because Eddie Kennison was “stretching the filed to open the middle”? Nope – Gonz was Billy Bad-ass because he just was.
You’re giving too much credit to these WRs in Gates case. Sure Jackson is good, but his presence not going to make or break whether Gates is one of the best TE’s in the league.

I guess we'll get to see what Ryan Mathews is made of
The Chargers will probably focus on the ground game with Jackson being out.
The poster formerly known as "ktr17x"
"What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left."
"In democratic America, Flowers and Berry pick YOU"
and it will be a good game plan
remember our front 7 isnt all that good, but this will be a good indication if we improved there at all.
Are we the team to beat in 2010? I sure think so! Go Chiefs.
Correction...
I guess we will see what the KC run defense is made of.
Without Gates, the only weapons they really have are the RBs and Gates. We should be able to beat those chumps handily.
Fuck this -- I want them at full strength.
Let’s compete! I don’t want to hope we get them with their roster depleted. I want to beat them with their best lineup possible.
Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.
Does it really matter?
If some dick-head wants to fight you with one hand instead of two does that mean you shouldn’t relish beating the everloving shit out of him?
Do the LA Lakers feel that their NBA Championship was less valuable because Kendrick Perkins couldn’t play in game 7?? Not a chance – they went in and did what they had to do regardless of what the roster was on either side.
The Charges are scrote-biters and I couldn’t care less if they fielded a team of Seniors from UC San Diego to play against us.
by Ochophosphate on Jul 1, 2010 5:28 AM CDT up reply actions 1 recs
You're being much too kind.
scrote-biters
The Chiefs will see a return to respectability in 2010, emerging as the front runner in the AFC West! ....And I'll quantify that however I choose. Ahem.
Antonio Gates?
I read that Jackson is their best receiver….I don’t know if I agree. Gates poses more of a threat in the receiving game. He may not have speed to break away from a CB, but he’s got a huge body and good hands. If he stays in a short route and gets picked up by an LB, again he has the big body to deal with that too. This guy has awesome hands. He is also way more consistent it seems than Jackson ever was. I’m not worried about any receiver on that team other than Gates.
I'll take it
The goal is the playoffs, and I don’t care how many we get there – barring another spygate or any form of cheating that is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNm2rFzdvW8&feature=related
I don't care
If they are missing Jackson or not… if he’s not with their team he’s not with their team. Thats the way it goes. It’s still their team no matter whose playin and whose not.
heeeellloooooo
Yoooou plaaaay tooo wiiin the gaaaaameee.
