Could the HB screen pass be a secret weapon in the upcoming season? With the addition of Run DMC (read: the new OW) plus JC's already present speed and dangerous presence in the open field - the possibility of running HB screen plays to slow down aggressive blitzing from opposing defenses in 2010 is looking pretty viable. Last season teams aggressively blitzed us, causing all kinds of nasty disruptions in the backfield, TFL's, QB Hurries and sacks. Combine that with an offense that was adjusting to having the head coach take over as the OC at the last minute and WR roulette along with a porous offensive line, and we were pretty well doomed. Now with the O Line shoring up, and the explosive open field play making abilities of Dex and Jamaal, I think the threat of the HB screen will force opposing defenses to dial down the aggression just a bit, or potentially suffer some catastrophic consequences. Woe to the safety who is the last man between Dex / JC and the goal line because the Defensive Coordinator dialed in too heavy of a blitz package, freeing up either of these two guys to bust one off outside of a screen. Thoughts? Dissenting opinions?
