PrintWe've done a few fantasy football leagues in the past and this year along with SB Nation we've teamed up with CBSSports.com to do one.
The big difference this year is that it's a paid league. A few SB Nation bloggers have told me that it's one of the few, and maybe the only paid league that's worth it.
Our Redskins blogger: "I've used CBSSports.com the last ten years with 12 teams. It by far is the best league out there which is why they charge $. Teams can write mock news articles on the homepage. I'm excited for this. The admin console you can customize ANYTHiNG imaginable with rules and teams."
Mock news articles on the home page could actually be kind of fun. Future headline: "Team Joel Thorman routs team Chris Thorman." Then Chris will post his own article talking about the time in 2003 he traded for LaDainian Tomlinson when he already had Priest Holmes. It's the only good move he's had in fantasy football.
The league we're doing is the CBSSports.com Fantasy Football Commissioner League.
So this league normally costs $180 but our deal with CBS Sports gets us 50% off. So if you're interested in this league, make sure you use this link to get the 50% off. We'd recommend doing ten teams per league. The total would be $90 so about $9 per person. Plus, with the amount of trash talk that I'll be doing, you'll probably want to be in on it.
One person will set up the league and take the hit on the $90 (14-day free trial so you're not committing immediately) then others will join the league. We'll help with any coordination of payouts and/or setting up leagues if you need it. If you join a league and don't pay, you will be subject to ridicule on AP.

You can start a league and get it rolling and, if necessary, I can set up a paypal clearing house where people can pay to get other leagues going. But I’m not sure how many people will want to play. We’ll see how quickly your league fills up. Sound good?

I’m considering this. Although the last time I played fantasty Football I had Brady as my QB and had to rename my team the ACL Blowouts after Pollard took him down in week 1. That stung. I haven’t played fantasy football since that dark day.

But that’s only with friends that I know will take it seriously. With a paid league, it motivates people to be checking their rosters every week and not leaving any openings.

The way other people are doing it
Is using PayPal to put money in to create the leagues (see here at our Cowboys site).
So their way is to have the blog (me) collect all the money then set up the leagues. I think this is a good idea.

I’ve always wanted to do a QB/2RB/2WR/TE/K/ and 6 IDP, no team defense, league. I was planning on just doing a free yahoo one this way and see what random people join. Would anyone be interested in a league like this?

I love IDP
The only ones I’ve done was just 1 IDP player, but it’s great. getting to watch Jared Allen rack up 5-8 points when he’s on then maybe 1 when he’s not having a good game, or a player making a pick 6 and winning the game for you, it’s great.
Maybe we can take some sort of vote with whoever signs up for that league
